I downloaded this about two months ago from Train-sim.com. This route has a great deal to offer and I have been having a lot of fun with it. There is a problem though.... I discovered that if a sim has a "workorder" to complete, I run into problems. If you read the work order during the simulation, and after you have completed just the first task, the program will stop. In fact, it will knock you right out of the simulator and back to the desk top. I have tried to create my own sim on this route, and have run into a few problems. I think that I just do not have enough memory to run this on my system. I have maxed out the memory on my system, and it still does not appear to be enough. The sim I tried to create is farily lengthy. In one instance I had no working Track Signals for part of the route. The head light on the locomotive did not show until I got down the route some distance. I also found out that I could not delete a road section or a bridge without causing an error. The system would still think that the structure is still there and I would get a "shape not found' error. The workorder problem is the main problem. This will always blow the program. It is not just on my sims, but on all the sims that came with the route as well. Can anyone tell me if these errors are because of my system, or is there a problem with the route software. If it is the software, is there a fix. I'm running Windows 2000 XP Professional. I have a 1.7 gig proccessor and 1024 ram.

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

1024 ram? I hope this has a magabyte behind it; 1024KB won't run the OS. 1024MB = 1GB which should be ample (I am managing on 512MB with no problems). By the way Windows 2000 and XP Professional are two separate OS's but either should be fine. 1.7GHz processor is also OK and the problems you cite should not be related to the display card. If it is a hardware problem it might be a bad RAM board or such.I have run this with out the problems you cite. Also must of what I have run on here are frieght runs as I am not a big fan of passenger operations. Be Seeing you.

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

Sadly I am having the same problems.I have a P4 2.8 PC with 2Gig of Ram, but I have come to the conclusion that the route is just too big.I can run trains in the explore route mode but if I try to create any activities with AI tarins (there would be quite alot on the corridor) the PC crashes. This usualy starts about 3 or 4 miles into the activity. The sim stops and says that the SD file of a scenery object is missing (which it is not). Pressing yes to continue gets you a few more yards (metres) down the track then another file is said to be missing, sometimes this is accomapnied with the sound going funny.
Then the "I want my Mummy" screen.
Odly I can create activities on the light rail section around Baltimore with no problems with around 20 AI trains in motion, but these use 2 car trams (light rail vehicles) so the number of sound streams is much less.I think it is also connected with the fact I have installed the 3D sound pack, so that all freight cars etc. have great sounds. No problems with other routes, but NEC V4 does have the most trackwork.Andy J KEngland

Figured i'd pop in here and begin searching around for others experiencing the same issues OK - light rail works. Odds are, so will the other trains IF you use the same equipment for both AI and player trains.So....I'll start here. I have now seen a few people with this problem as well. So, how about we get a few people to post the EQUIPMENT as well that they are having a problem with? I am experiencing this problem on NECv4 with the AEM7 and Amfleets.Anyone else, please post what equipment you are having problems with. And for those of you who DON'T have any issues, what equipment IS working. Maybe we can find a common link and fix this???------ BUZZ ------

I don't know of any problems with mine. I have created an activity pack on the Royal Blue Line and had none of these problems.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

Yeah...Looks like this is happening to me on any "intense route" with a variety of equipment.*Sigh*Guess i'll try re-installing MSTS. This will be my first "fresh" installation since i bought MSTS the day it came out. I suppose it's time....------ BUZZ ------

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

Buzz,That sounds like the dreaded consist bug to me. How many consists do you have installed? If it's more that 600-800, then it's probably time for Train Store. (Assuming that you're not using it already>Take care,Henry

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

I don't have any probelms running it and mine is a slower system with less RAm than you.As far as the activity ending when you make you pickup. Go into the action events and make sure the outcome is changed. It sounds like you did not change it and the default is activity complete.Kevin Arceneaux

I have to agree,I have no issues at all. Well I can't say at all, but not alot of common ones.I generally swap out the equipment in activities to " Canadian-ize " the activites. My system specs are FAR from amazing ( new PC come Spring though )Athalon 1.4

Your experience with work orders doesn't surprise me. I find complex-work-order-enhanced activities pose a real crash threat to TS (the game); however, I do not experience trouble if the work order is relatively simple/straightforward.For example, if you have the screen to the F11 Key (err, I forget the name of that screen/function) upon your monitor for too long a period of time (err -- like -- uh -- less than a dozen seconds!!) while running a complex-work-order-enhanced activity, my experience has been that the sound files to such an activity repeat themselves all over the place followed by the game crashing. Another such example is when I leave a displayed message upon my monitor too long while playing such an activity (same symptoms: sounds from every direction and then the sim crashes).Another thing, though, how come the real-time status of work orders is seldom displayed correctly when a player pauses an activity that has a work order (by going to the Work-orders panel of the F11 Key)?I suspect your experience simply stems from another glitch that was overlooked by the manufacturer prior to their product launch; hence, I've a hunch that your experience with this problem on NEC-v4 is coincidental. However, does anybody else get the game-loading status-bar message "Generating terrain buffers . . ." for just a few seconds each time s/he goes to drive either explore- or activity-mode in NEC-v4? That route is the only one from my experience that still subsequently displays that status-bar message.Cheers,

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

I have had very complex WO's on the NEC and have had not reports of crashes like this. The same with the differnt screens, never had any problems like that either. I have experienced sporadic sound problems like you mentions. But there is no rhyme or reason to it. I have had the engine sounds Comressor every time) hang and I have had bridge sounds hang. But not every time with the exact same engine in the exact same place.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Northeast Corridor 4.0.

OK there was one problem I had to fight when I designed my activities...When I built consists with the NALW AEM-7's the details are just TOO good on those engines. With a multi car consist with AEM-7's the route would self destruct (was almost like the Langliers sci fi show) when I met an AI train pulled by another AEM-7 with a multi car consist. What I mean by that is that your consist have 4 different cars or so in it,How did I overcome?I built my consists with the same AEM-7 and the same Amfleet car on all AI AEM-7 trains.
I was told that would lower the stress on NEC 4/0 and it worked,It still is a little flaky and I save a couple of times on a trip. I hope this rambling helps and this is the problemBobFlorida Railfan Page
