I am making an activity where I want the AI train go in to the passing siding and stop, then reverse off the siding to another spur. Is it possible to do this. I have done a search, but did not find anything pertaining to my problem.
The passenger train is sitting on the main line, waiting for the AI to come down and take passing track.Tis a winter activity and the AI is a pusher plow that I am trying to get it to reverse into the wye and stop there.

RE: Reversing AI trains

Just end the path a few feet from the end of track. It will dissappear when it hits the mark.Never end the path at the default end of track. This can cause the never ending red signals.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Reversing AI trains

Thank you both for your help. I new I had to put in a reversing point but did not realise I had to put another on the spur I wanted to back into. As a matter of fact I put 2 next to each other on the spur to get it to work.
Also I did end the path at the default end of track so moving that cured my signal problem..
Thanks......

Is it possible to keep the AI train from disappearing for a length of time? Paul

RE: Reversing AI trains

Rich told a guy you could put a bunch of wait points and slow the AI down. Remember wait point reset to 0 so they are basically stop and goes and if the AI train is visible it would look a strange having that.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Reversing AI trains

I tried surrounding it with reverse points, it bounced back and forth, a couple of times , then disappeared Paul

RE: Reversing AI trains

RobertR had said to put up to 40 of them close togther and the AI moves slowly forward but it almost looks like it is stopped.
I have not tried it yet but I do trust his advice.

However, one other thing I've tried is to place two reverse points very close together for the AI where I wanted it to stay and it works very nicely most of the time. However, this can't be done if you want any movement after that point since it stops them permanently dead in their tracks.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

Paul, I'm not sure if I follow you, but you would have a reverse point (RP) getting the AI onto the siding, then another pair of RP's where you want it to stay. Both of these matching RP's would need to be under the train at the same time (hence close together) to keep the AI from moving or disappearing. In other words when the AI hits the the front reverse point, the matching one would be close enough to be under the same train. I have put them very close together with a fair amount of success. I can't find the URL for the link at the moment (google will go straight to it), but Steam4Me website has a tutorial on using these RP's this way that raises a lot of questions and answers as to how they can be effectively used.Found it http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/index.html to see a couple of related articles, then http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/AI_otake.html for the double reverse points.Hope this helpsRobertR .. Paul, you're most welcome .. just hope it works for you. The one main thing I've found to be consistant in the RE is its inconsistancies. However, it does open many possibilities if a person can get it working.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com
