Jul-20-01, 11:14 AM (EST) "prompts to overwrite files - tsunpack.exe" Hello,at first: i´m a german user, so please excuse my terrible english.I´ve downloaded all activities from this website (train-sim.com).
Here´s my question:
By using the tsunpack.exe i got questions about overwriting permission. Now i´ve seen one activity wich includes following sentence in the readme.txt file:"You can say 'No' to the prompts to overwrite files and the activity will still run. This includes some improved versions of some of the default consists for AI 'traffic' trains, so if you say 'Yes' to overwrites, you'll get some more realistic (longer, more power on the head end, helpers, etc.) consists in many of your activities, including this one. It won't affect the playability of any activity, it's just 'screen candy.'"Can I always give "NO" permission to the tsunpack.exe to prevent my Train-Simulator from errors?
Or does some activities don´t work anymore?Thanx
DanielPS: I hope my english wasn´t too bad Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: prompts to overwrite files - tsunpack.exe" Hi!If you get a question (when loading an Activity) like that, it means that you already have those files (of course!).Then you never know: within the new Activity that you are about to load it might be that all these previous files are untouched. So, nothing will harm your TS Activities then!BUT, it might as well be the situation that some of the files have been changed (maybe an previous track for an AI train has been changed to suit for that new situation etc). For the new Activity that causes no problem.Maybe you will use an "older" Activity (some are that good!). Suddenly the AI trains might pile up somewhere! On the other hand: I don´t know for sure if the older Activites will "remember" all settings - it´s just a suspicion that they don´t!A tip here from me: I have a subdirectory for all those apk-files used in TrainSim\Utils directory. Then I double-click (it works even within that sub-dir!)on such an apk-file for a fresh "update" before I am going to "play" it. Thus will all the files needed for that Activity be OK. I haven´t noticed any drawbacks yet!I find your English quite OK with me, but I am from Sweden, so it isn´t my mother´s tongue either!Haraldh F Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
