Hi, I know I'm probably a dummy for asking, but I'll ask anyway. How do you change an activity into an introductory train ride? I've tried this on one of the activities in the Northern Denmark Route by changing from mode( 2 ) to mode ( 0 ). It works fine up to a point when my train decides it want's to run a red signal and crash headon into an oncoming train. I tried it with another activity and everything did just fine. Are there anything else that needs to be changed beside the mode?
I don't know . I have never made one before , Could you tell me how to switch modes ?Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans Shane Palus smp1151@sbcglobal.net
What I did was to open the activity with wordpad. A few lines from the top you will find these lines: Type ( 0 ) Mode ( 2 )I simply changed the Mode statement to Mode ( 0 )You can always change it back if you need to. I find it's the simplest way to do it. I don't even know if it could be done through the activity editor. I don't particularly care for the activity editor anyway.
No , thats all that needs to be done. AI trains including the Intro ride will only stop at red signals if the signals are absolutes. If the reds are permissives, the train will go straight thru. Even if the red signals are absolutes sometimes the AI Intro train wont stop in time and then it will stop, wait a short time and then get going again, which usually results in a crash.
Thanks. What was happening in the activity is that the train would stop for the signal but then it would creep forward a little at a time, stop again and continue until it had passed the signal. It then accelerated normally and crashed into the oncoming train. I tried the technique with another activity on the "Wupper Express" and missed an oncoming train just by a few feet. The same creeping forward past the signal occurred in this activity as well.
