Hi, Is it possible to have more than one AI path on a route. E.g 1. Player drives a slow train along the down slow of a 4 - track mainline.
2. AI passes on the down fast.
3. AI passes on the up fast.
4. AI passes on the up slow. and so on. Or are you limited to one path with the option of several AI trains along that path? Thanks Paul

RE: Amount of AI paths

I am now getting confused. I have created the Player Path.I have also added a Traffic Path, tested it with AE, watched and everything looks hunky dory. However, I added a second Traffic Path and Service on a separate path and when I both tested the activity from within AE and played it in the Sim I lost the first Traffic Path.I would like to know please, how can I have more than one AI path on a route at once, I cannot seem to work it out. Thanks for your assistance.Paul.

RE: Amount of AI paths

If I understand you correctly you are trying to have two traffic files in the same activity. It doesn't work that way. In one traffic file you set up all the services you want for that activity. An activity has a player service, and a traffic file if there are going to be one or more traffic services. You set up more services by editing the traffic file.RegardsEric

RE: Amount of AI paths

Sorry Eric, I didn't explain myself fully. So,from what you are saying, you can only have one traffic path e.g. Settle to Carlisle, with several Services running on that path?I therefore assume that you cannot have additional traffic paths on other lines in the same activity, E.G.
Drive down the slow line as the Player
Traffic AI overtakes on the fast line
Traffic AI passes in the opposite direction shortly after on the Fast
Traffic AI passes in the opposite direction on the Slow. All this is just to enhance realism rather than have static consists.Hope all this makes sense.Paul.

RE: Amount of AI paths

A traffic file (there is only one per route) contains a list of services. Each service contains the name of a path, the name of a consist. It also contains other info such as its start time etc. Separate from this are the consists and the paths. You can if you want set up a service that uses the same path that the player does. Once you set up a path it is saved in the paths folder of the route and can be used over and over again in one activity or in many activities in a route. This link will take to a site where you can get THE book on making activities by Rich Garber. It shows you in detail how to set up an activity from soup to nuts. It was one of my first purchases after I got MSTS.

RE: Amount of AI paths

No, you keep creating seices or use the same service over again with a different start time. You can have as many as you want.Kevin Arceneaux
