I have a problem creating activities for the East River route. When I run the activities some of the color lights are “dark” i.e. no lights lit. If I run the same path using “explore route” the lights are lit and change when I pass them. The lights affected appear to be “Junction signals”. I have restored the route from a backup copy but its still the same. The aspects change if you alter a switch past the light (as they should).I had a similar problem some years ago when modifying the NJ route using "route Editor", but this disappeared when I added more memory to my previous PC (from 256 to 512M).The current one is a 2.8 P4 but has only 256 RAM.Is this a memory problem or something more serious?Hopeful of an answer,AndyUK
Hi Andy,MSTS has a limit on the number of lights that can be shown at one time. The way to cure it is to reduce the number of lights on the engines (or other rolling stock) you are using or to substitute engines that do not have as many lights.RegardsEric
Thanks for that.I should practise what I preach and do a search of previous messages before I ask questions. Bit like engaging brain after mouth.I am now deleting lights from most of my AI only locos, pity realy. Those NS Dash9's looked good in the dark. Yet another bug in MSTS I suppose. As usual, the answer to all questions is "Train-sim.com"Thats the dayly grovel done.AndyA hot and sweaty UK
I think you could get by, by elimating the lights in you wagon (.wag) files. That way your locos will still have lights.I have seen the same problem on other routes before where there were just too many lights. Everytime I went and deleated the light section from the wag files for the cars in that activity it fixed the problem.
I think what I will do is create "tail end cars" with lights and delete then from the rest.I have already removed the lights (except headlights) from the AI locos, so that the lead loco of the player consist has all its lights and the rest of the locos are AI types.I have also modified some of the AI locos to sound horns on approach (using the "Invisicar" files from this site) and have bells going if the speed of the AI train is less than 10mph.I have also set some conventions when naming consists:All non drivable consists have AI in their title, "NS_AI SD40 coal train 1"
