ANY switch and player path and AI with no signals!

WOOF! WOOF! barking up the wrong tree! After further testing, it's not the type of switches, it's the path logic when there are no signals on the route. For testing purposes I dug up PO&N3, which has only manual switches and no signals, and set up one activity with a player path only:Xtracks switches and player paths – image 1Take other exit at this switch, and as advertised the path goes thru the curve part of the switch, indicated by the orange arrow in the track monitor and the green arrow in the switch icon.Xtracks switches and player paths – image 2Sure enough the train goes thru the curve, whad'ya expect? So I opened that activity and cloned it, made a traffic pattern with an AI train starting one minute ahead of me on the same path.Xtracks switches and player paths – image 3Following Emma down the hill, since we're both on the same path we should both take the curve.Xtracks switches and player paths – image 4Once she clears the switch tho, HAL9000 throws the switch straight again, since there are no signals.I had noticed before that on routes with signals the block occupancy detection was geared more toward the base of the switch rather than the actual location of the signal trip for the interlocking. It works correctly for interval signals on a single track, but when there's a switch involved HAL will throw the switch and clear the signal for the next train as soon as the back coupler clears the base of the switch. If that train stops before clearing the actual fowling point, the next AI train will go thru a clear signal and collide with the back car anyway, and this explains that wierdness.DISCLAIMERNo dinosaurs were harmed in this test. One stegosaurus was mildly embarrassed by having to drag a Canton RR grain hopper around, but she was compensated afterwards by being allowed to knock the car over and eat the contents.Xtracks switches and player paths – image 5
