OK, I am working on a very large-scale activity for the Mariass Pass, and am having trouble making the AI work at ALL. When you first start, you are in the Whitefish yard with four SD40-2 locomotives, and you have to couple to a 40-car train. At the same time the activity starts (8am), a train comes in fromwhatever is beyond Whitefish and is supposed to go on down the mainline while you couple your cars and get ready. Instead it stops on the mainline and waits for me! I have yard-work to do before I leave the yard and this huge AI train waits! What do I have to do to tell the AI that I'm going to be busy for ten minutes and that he can go ahead? It gives me a green light on the part of the line that runs into the yard, but I haven't even coupled to my cars.
There are a number of things you can try. One is to have the ai path seperate from the player path so that one does not affect the other. Another is to have the path for your ai train established before the player path is. You can try to do this by starting the ai train before the activity starts, say 7:59:55. Still another way is to play around with the placement of double reverse points which will interupt the player path until they are tripped, but these can be difficult to place where there are a lot of switches.RegardsEric
Thanks, I'll try the early start for this situation. If not, I can detail the entire player path (what a pain, it runs from Whitefish to Shelby), whereas right now I just setup the path and made sure the locations to drop-off or pick up cars were manual switches. Thanks again!
