I've been using time, action, and location events/outcomes in my activities with great success, but can't seem to find what the "reversable" checkbox means. Can anyone shed some light on this? Also, I'm trying to find if there's a way to set up events (or any other checking-mechanism) to be triggered when the player makes an in-cab mistake, such as not using the bell while working in yards, not blowing the right sequence at crossings, forgetting to turn on or dim headlights, etc. Any ideas?I'm making my activities to be as realistic and interactive as possible, but that's hard to do when it comes to in-cab actions and errors. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

One of the uses of reversible is in setting "reach speed" for example. Once they reach this speed and it is triggered, the level reverts to 0 and it doesn't work again. If you check the reversible (should be named 'reusable') checkbox, it will work again as soon as they get down below the set speed. That's not very clear, but maybe you can figure out what I 'meant' to say RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: Events -- What does "reversable" mean?

Thanks! I believe that answers my question, but just to make sure.... The event is active from the beginning, but the "trigger" occurs when the train reaches the predefined speed; and at that time, the specified outcome (whatever it may be) is executed and the text in the "triggered text" field, if present, is wrtten to the performance log that is displayed when the activity is terminated, and the event itself is deactivated (set to zero or below). BUT, if "reversible" is checked, the event will re-activate at a predefined lower(?) speed and "trigger" again if/when the train reaches the predefined highe(?) speed. Right? And yeah, "reversible" is definitely the wrong word (and is even spelled incorrectly in the dialog box). Reusable is much better.

That was most eloquently put and exactly correct. When checked reversible, I believe it re-activates at any speed lower than what is set and will trigger again, also adding again to the performance log.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: Events -- What does "reversable" mean?

I'll try to show "reversable" use with an example:
No matter what kind of event they are, you design an activity with events numbered 0 to 3 (four events).
You can do them in any order, but if you undo anyone of them, the actual situation is the same as if you have never done this event before, so you can do-undo events (as practice, I suppose) and at last you can yet success with the object of the activity, if finally you finish doing all of them.
(Please, be mercy with my "Spanglish")
About the other question, i didn't find any parameter that allows you to set any triggered outcome for in-cab mistakes...
Hope it could be included in next M$TS release 2...
Hope not to hope too much from it!!!!
GREETINGS!!!

RE: Events -- What does "reversable" mean?

Thanks for the info.. Are you saying that if a particular outcome is turned off after being triggered, it will turn off all other outcomes that resulted from the event's being triggered? For example, I have location13, which controls the logic for other "location" events along a particular 20-mile segment (I program activities segment by segment, and set the logic for each segment with an initial event at the beginning). This "segment control event," as I call it, is typically set with four outcomes -- all of which activate and/or deactivate other events in the particular segment. And just beyond the end of the segment, I have another event which either zeroes out or changes the activation levels for the events in that segment (the one I'm coming out of).Are you saying that if an outcome from location13 is to activate location14, and I in turn DEactivate location14 after triggering it and reaching the end of the segment, that ALL four outcomes in location13 are deactivated automatically, or that only location13 is? What's confusing is that I thought only "action" events had the "reversable" option.

RE: Events -- What does "reversable" mean?

This kind of work requires your mind to be very concentrated and to be able to abstract (again sorry for my "Spanglish").
Location events are not logically reversable, as you first time pass only once.
But coupling/uncoupling and other actions can be done and undone many times, so, generally, action events are logically be reversable.
And I mean absolutely reversable, any quantity of them there are, the outcomes became as before if you undo the action (at least this is the way I understand "reversable" with no kind of parameters to be set, as select which outcomes can be reversable).
If there is a sequence of actions set to be done in order, undoing the third (as an example) once you've done it, resets the trigger that allows you to do the fourth and so on.
If there are no triggered order to do all actions, but you must do all of them to trigger (I.E.) a location event out the yard, the logic must allow you to do-undo every switch actions (couple-uncouple, etc.), but finally you need to have all of them done to get that location-out-of-the-yard activated.
As you said, it's hard to say (or type) but logic.
Should be easyer for me to explain in Spanish...
Burn to suffer, as we say here in Argentina.
