How far up in advance would you have to place the reverse point to trigger. Does it activate when the head end hits it or does the whole train have to clear it. I run into problems trying to get a set of units reversed at Essex. When I use the VCR playback, the units stop at the reverse point and do not move. What gives. Im just trying to figure out where to place them at. And also does the whole train have to pass it or just the head end?

Forward - the head Reverse - the end BUT - if the distance between the reverse point and the switch or what ever is not long enough for the train, you will chase the point and it will never trigger.Kevin Arceneaux DEFAULT IS FOR DUMMIES Lone Wolf Activities Forum on www.3DTrains.com
Hi Kev and othersFinding the location for the Reverse Point is a real PITA when the train you're using has added or dropped cars. I've found that the easiest way to handle this problem is to actually temporarily redefine the Player consist to have the right number of cars just to spot the correct location.GaryGps: for Maple Leaf Tracks Route users, there is a new Activities Forum
What I do is have loose consists of varying car numbers. I lay the path out and then exit the path editor. I then put a loose consist of the number of cars, including engines, in the spot and see if the consists is where the green ends. I delete the consits and go back into the path editor and do the next path segment. It takes a while but it works.Kevin Arceneaux DEFAULT IS FOR DUMMIES Lone Wolf Activities Forum on www.3DTrains.com
There used to be a really great tutorial on reverse points called "Reverse Points for Smarties" on the NECTrackTeam's webpage, but the site no longer works. Hopefully one of the guys there can post the tutorial somewhere for future use. Thankfully, I printed out a copy when it was available, but it would be helpful if others could access it.MC
What I did for the Essex situation is just have the path set for the main, and throw the switches myself. But sometimes you cannot throw the switches and you only can go wherever the path is.
What would you fellows think about three reverse points in a row, on a (single) passing track at a station + yard, where a fair amount of switching is to be done?Asking for trouble? Bing
Could be. The thing to do is lay them out and keep track of which is for which. I have many with reverse points like that and that is the biggist pain.Kevin Arceneaux DEFAULT IS FOR DUMMIES Lone Wolf Activities Forum on www.3DTrains.com
