RE: Cant open activity

OK, got that taken care of, but now I get another error. I downloaded Marias 3.1 and installed all 7 pieces and the 3 fixes. Now when I try to install the activities that came with it, I get the error. "This package requires a route call Marias Pass 3.1, UID Marias31

RE: Cant open activity

Either the installation of Marias Pass 3.1 is incorrect of the activity unpacker is looking in the wrong place for the route. Can you select the route when you start MSTS? Do you have a route folder named Marias31 with a Marias3.trk file?RegardsEric

RE: Cant open activity

Look for tsunpack.exe it should be located in the UTILS subfolder of the train simulator folder. The way I use it is to put a shortcut to it on my desktop and drag the .apk file to the desktop icon to unpack an activity.RegardsEric

RE: Cant open activity

If you are trying to use pigtrn2.zip (WB Pig Train v2.apk) it installs in Marias Pass, UID USA2 and wbpig3.zip (wbpigtrn3.apk) installs in Whitefish, UID Whitefish. They don't use Marias 3.1.RegardsEric

RE: Cant open activity

Oops I forgot about those. It installed ok on my system. Have you tried dragging the .apk file to the tsunpack.exe file in the utils folder?Did you follow the instructions in the tsunpack fix file?Go back and do it again making sure the only thing between the double quotes at the end of the line in the application box is %1. If you have a standard installation it should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Utils\TSUnpack.exe" "%1"If the fix is done properly you should be able to double cilck the .apk file to install the activity. RegardsEric

RE: Cant open activity

Are you sure Marias31 is Not all Uppercase insead of a mixture? W2k and XP will show them this way even if the whole thing is uppercase only. It must be a combination or the activities will NOT install.

RE: Cant open activity

Sounds to me like Tsunpack can't find the directory (folder) where it should be unpacking the activity. If the user's directory structure for TS is non-standard, this could be the cause of the problem. However: That which is described is a known bug with Tsunpack, and a fix was issued. Look for "tsunpack.zip" in the library. Once the program is run, Tsunpack.exe should "find" the default TS file structure. The next I am not certain about, but will toss it on the table for discussion: I would not attempt to run Tsunpack.exe anywhere except in the TS sub-folder titled "Utils". Could be it needs to be there to function properly, which might be verified by looking at the registration entires - BTW, the fix makes whatever reg corrections are necessary, the Readme is clearly written.I don't drag and drop packed activities. I make sure the file association is correct, then all I have to do is double click the activity and it unpacks. No hassle to date, after several TS reinstallations. Bing

Just say "Yo!".

RE: Cant open activity

Before I knew about the fix I put a shortcut to it on my desktop and drag and drop to the shortcut worked ok. With the fix the double-click is much easier.RegardsEric

It uses the registrey entry to locate TS and then looks for the .trk and .tdb files for the route. The route folder can be called whatever you like.Packing an activity is entirely the opposite - the uid in the .trk file and the folder name must match exactly including case.If you use Train Store then the route must be unstored before unpacking an activity.Get tsunpack.zip from the downloads - that should fix it - has for me every time I have needed to reinstall.

RE: Cant open activity

Yes, IF Tsunpack can find the entry. If the entry is in a part of the reg where Tsunpack doesn't look, that might be a problem. The reg is such an unholy mess its hard to say. Best to get a fresh copy of Tsunpack fix and run it again. I've unpacked dozens of activities with no problem at all. If it were me, I would take out the existing Tsunpack, search the reg and remove all entries pertaining to Tsunpack. Then I would reinstall Tsunpack and run the fix right away, before using the app.I would also check file associations to make sure something goofy isn't in there. I had that happen recently with my Win98 system and TGAtool2. Really weird until I figured it out. BTW, I am currently running WB Pig in MP31. From what I see, the activity will not complete when the train arrives at Whitefish and pulls as far down the track as possible without splitting the timbers. Opened it in AE and couldn't find a "Complete Activity" event, put one in, plus a Whitefish station stop to allow the crew to go to the bathroom. I like it enough to run it all over again, with my Improved Default Dash 9. Lots of AI traffic to meet; put lights on the AI trains, its real nice. Stpoped the rain. Got tired of it. Great route, isn't it? MP31, that is.Bing

Just say "Yo!".
