i might have a answer to the front coupling problem I changed the wag files on a few cars as a test using the information in kevarcs post in the m s t s forum about doubling the couplers in the wag files.
The test train consisted of an ex missourri pacific gp38-2 and five mixed freight cars- by mixed i mean original msts/kuju cars and downloaded cars off of train-sim.com1. changed the wag files for the cars
2. changed the eng file for the geep
3. i did apply the handbrakes on the cars i cut and put a little air on the loco before pulling away at 1-2 mph to make sure they dropped

I switched for approx 20 min using the front coupler only mixing the cars in various combinations and will admit it was easier to uncouple with the changed wag/eng files then before they were changed.michael gilmore

RE: i think i've got it

Upon further playing--ahem "testing" it was found that with the derail buffer set at 800 KN you can couple with both the front and rear couplers at up to 10 mph and you can also uncouple from both ends at speed. i went up to 35 mph because that the max allowed speed
on the Jackson County Ry.
