OK, the old mind is going lame...In the Lehigh route, I am trying to work up an activity that has me starting around Catasauqua yard heading towards Bender Jct...doing Ok at this point...however, I want to make the train wye itself at Benders and head back to Catasauqua...where in the world do I place the reverse points? I headed the activity to the righthand leg of the wye and placed a reverse point just after the signal on straight track. I then placed a reverse point on straight track just after the signal and selected the path to be the left leg of the wye. Trouble is, it doen't let me have a signal to take my train down straight track to get to the left leg of the wye. Hmmm....It's hell getting old....<g>
Hi Kev,yep, tried that, dispatcher denied permission. Not quite sure what to do. I have a feeling if I could have got thru it would have let me go around the other leg of the wye. On the straight track part I placed the reverse point about 10 cars past the signal. Is that what is causing the signal to stay red for straight track? Sheesh....
HiI have discovered that if there are switches between the loco and the rear of the train, normal placement of Double Reverse Points won't work as expected. In this case, place the first one at the normal front location and the second one at a point that is between the rear of the train and the next switch that is located toward the front of the train. The train does have to be over both points at the same time for this to work.Somewhere in Train-Sim there was a discussion about DRPs and I made a picture describing this finding.GaryG
Good point, I had forgotton about that. I have had to redo a couple of activities because of this. I go to change a switch, with its mate under the trains and had yet a third switch change to complete what MSTS sees as a logical path, I think - still tryibg to figure this out.Kevin Arceneaux DEFAULT IS FOR DUMMIES
Just to get back to ya'll about this problem. I finally figured out what happened. I didn't have the reverse points far enough away from the switch. They were too close and the consist was still in the switch when I hit the reverse point. Ya just gotta make sure everything is clear of the switch before touching the reverse point. Now it reverses and goes around the other leg of the wye and back down the main just perfectly. Thanks to all who responded.
