I've been talking with Mike Simpson about extending RouteRiter to include the ability to create a zip file containing a complete activity. I suggested this because the activity packager does not seem to work reliably under some conditions.RouteRiter can already examine and parse most (maybe all) of the files that make up a complete activity. The program would have to examine the *.act file and then find all the paths/services/traffic/consists files needed. What suggestions can this forum give to him regarding the specificaitions for this kind of extention?
Mark,An excellent idea! One feature I would like to see is the program also examine the consists and create a list of the equipment used by the consists. I realize this would have to be the folder names the activity creator has used, but at least we could be certain of all the equipment needed.Ken
Strangely enough I was thinking about the same thing last night. It does produce a list, but in various sections, eg consists, loose consists, and you need to go through it by hand to make sure you have picked up the files. With Route Riter the more Mike gives the more you think I wish it could do that, but a listing of material in trainset folder order would be great.
The Check selected activity does not produce (as far as I can see) a list in folder order, of every .eng or .wag used in the activity or as a loose consist, and the losse consist column cannot be sorted. For a useful list for changing in the activity instructions you need a printed (and CSV)list of all entries that can be sorted into file order.
Yes it can. However the updates are few and far between and it costs $10. Don't get me wrong - I have had a registered copy almost from day one and find it invaluable in lots of ways. However Route Riter is, through the generosity and hard work of Mike Simpson, free and is updated frequently. What is more he does his utmost to add extra functionality requested by users. To add this facility would make it even better than it already is.Bill
