OK, I've designed a BIG activity for MSTS and tested it with just the player in-game, and it works great (if you have four and a half hours to drive the entire thing!). However, I've started loading the route with traffic and all but one is working. You start at Whitefish on the Marias Pass route at 8:30. By 8:40 you should be halfway between Whitefish and Columbia Falls. A new train loads in at 8:40 way down past Conkelly where ther eis only a single track. This train heads towards Whitefish, but when it gets to the signal at the Conkelly yard it stops. My train (player service) hasn't even reached the Columbia Falls yard yet, and there is no other traffic between us. What is going on? I can drive all the way up to that light and then sit there and stare at the other train, even run into it! I can't figure out what is wrong here, because there is a block between the two of us with nothing in it, yet the signal will NOT let the other train enter it. I have a picture of this in the activity editor if you want me to post it.One other minor question on something that would REALLY allow me to make some SWEET activities. Is it possible to use an event to activate a service or world-object, such as a signal or switch? If so, how would I do this?
Sorry, had to move this topic up a bit! No idea about how to help you, Sephiroth, but I'm sure somone has!Matt13 year old Steam Loco driverWanted: Dead or alive by the Sea View government.
Tried moving both paths in numerous ways today, to no avail. I now see (based on reading numerous posts of all kinds here) that the AI dispatcher is my most-likely suspect. Apparently I need to get the MSTS source and replace that retarded AI with that of say, a UT2K3 bot! Well, as long as the switches didn't fire rockets at the trains... HAHA!Anyways, what can I do here? The "stuck train" is the one on the far right. I am the one on the left heading right. The left-most train is an AI that passed me.
Found the problem. It is yet another bug in the game/tools. The signal that is red faces the other direction. It tells oncoming trains that I am in the next block. For some reason, the editor decides that this red signal should be for both directions and halts my train. In the simulation, since the signal is red but faces the other way, you can drive right past it with no problems. I fixed the other problem (Ai trains stopping for no reason). However, this is a bug in the game and the only way I have found to test this if the VCR is stopping you for no reason, is to go in-game and try it out. It does this at ANY place where a two-line track becomes one. The signal on the one-line side controls traffic both-ways in the VCR, but works properly in-game.
