Situation: I'm building a Colorado narrow gauge route circa 1880's. (i.e. NO signals.)Question: Seeing as no signals are present, so AI meets and such would nigh impossible (I'm told). Well, then would it be possible to create an AI Train to use as "eye candy" for an activity that the player train does NOT interact with. Here's what I'm talking about...* Town A is in a valley, and you can see the mainline high above on the mountainside at point C, D, E. (But points B or F are out of eyesight.)* Your "Activity" begins at the terminus Town A. You are to switch local industry at that location. * As you begin your day, you notice high above your train a slow moving freight working upgrade, having "supposedly" left terminus Town A just prior to you coming onto your "job". (The slow moving freight was set to start at the unseen point B location upon the start of the Activity.)You can watch as in the distance the freight labors up the mountainside to point C, then D, the E.. and then moves out of sight.
(To die at unseen point F.)Merely "eye candy"... but might add a nice touch to an activity that would otherwise be devoid of other trains moving besides yours.Think this can this be done with AE?Andre Ming

RE: Would This Work?

Andre,I believe you can do this with no effect. I have an activity (In Dark Territory)which starts out by waiting for an AI train to clear the yard before the activity can start, a nice little runby BTW.
Now the only problem I found is that if I start to move before the AI train comes into site it stops the train at the north end of town.

RE: Would This Work?

Yes, André, this type of activity, where the AI is remote and doesn't interact with the player, is perfectly feasible. As there are no signals, all that is necessary is for you to place your AI birth and death points at appropriate locations.
(As you've suggested, these will be out of sight of the player).Bruce.

RE: Would This Work?

Thanks Bruce for confiriming what David and I thought on the above!Armed with this info, I can place "eye candy" in certain situations during the future Activities of my 1880's narrow gauge route. COOL!Andre
