The activites I download unpack, its when i try to run them in the game is when it says microsoft has encountered an error! Why???

Might try running Route Control program...could be that you have consists and rolling stock missing that aren't in the default program. Also, check the readme files for the activities, they should tell you if you need extra rolling stock or engines.Hope this helps...Happy Rails!
