Has anyone tried this activity that appeared in the downloads section today by Bob Smith? I installed it per the instructions and ran Route Control to check it out. Route Control reported - Activities with problems: Conrailindy - "Getting to Know You" This activity references either trains or services you do not have or faulty consists. All the trains needed are in the download as are the consists (which check out OK with Consist Builder). The services folder is empty and no service files were included in the download. (I deleted the test services that were in the original folder per Bruce Bridges' instructions).Don't think I'll try to run the activity until I hear something from the author.

Yes it needs the Services for the activity. He can just attach it here in the forum as a small zip, and correct the activity later. John

I just noticed that the author uploaded the .srv files to the Library, they're available today.Hopefully the services use some of the paths that shipped with the route as I didn't see any paths included in either package.Henry

Bet you that is doesn't. I don't know why he didn't use the packager for this activity. It works fine for this route.Kevin Arceneaux

Nope, missing the "paths" for the activity. I just downloaded it and attempted to run it with no luck. At the very end of the load it gave me the dreeded "bonk" sound and then said failed to load path, "".... Maybe he will post the path with it so it will run.

Kevin,
You're right again, at least as to this activity. There are no paths provided, so the activity will not load. Glad to see your comment regarding the packager. Makes installing an activity so much easier.KenKen

ack ...Downloaded and installed this activity, and the services patch before I saw this thread about the missing player paths, etc which I of course am now plagued with. Did the author of the activity ever post the missing paths?Dave MikulecOhio Southeastern System - a freelanced route

No, he reuploaded the Activity at 12 Megs, rather than bother with the paths. This is going to be last on my list of things to do.

RE:

Just a heads up for anyone running the activity. I fired it up & kept breaking my couplers at the X-ING at M.P.121. Even after setting my Engines & Wags couplers to nuclear explosion break. Theres obviously an error effecting the route at that point. The only way I was able to do it was to increase the coupler break using ENGMOD to 5.1e7N & then inch worm all 45 cars through the cross-over at about 8-10 MPH.Good-Luck
Rick...

RE:

I think this activity has been jinxed from the start. I found another broken coupler point at Quincy before M.P. 154. The train uncouples no matter how you handle it (even at 2 MPH) ending the activity. If anyone has a solution, then feel free to post it.Rick.

RE:

I broke a coupler 5 minutes into the activity. I still hadn't gotten out of the 30 mph speed area. There seems to be something really wrong.

Go to the Route designs and read the topic that I'd posted about the route.Look for "Conrail Indy Route" Jan 6,2003 in the Route Designs.I ran into alot of problems with broken couplers and derailments pretty much in the same places that you guys are having problem.I had to do alot of coupler tweaking just to complete the sim.

Sorry for all the frustration, folks. It was my first attempt at sharing an activity. Has anyone had a problem with the new version of the activity(GET2NOU2.ZIP)? (I'm not sure about the broken couplers, I've played it through with no problems, running at or near the speed limits) Let me know so I can get it fixed up, I'd hate to have thousands of screaming simmers out for my head...Bob Smith

RE:

I ran the activity for about 10 minutes and my coupler broke when switching from double to single track at 25 mph. I forgot where the milepost was. I started out in Marion yard. Ken

RE:

The problems with broken couplers and derailments are both problems with the route, not the activity. The activity works fine now that all the necessary parts are available in the download. Seems like the route has too many long stretches of straight track unbroken by switches and this is what is causing the problems. The only recourse, right now, is to edit the properties of the couplers on all the rollingstock used in the activity so they don't break. This, in my opinion, is a lot of work just so I can run one route. I hope the route author provides a fix, or I think a lot of people will just abandon the whole thing. This would be too bad since the route has great possibilities.Ray

RE:

Thx for the activity Bar...I know you meant well, although there were a few glitches. It seems that the route desires a fix, not the activity this time. You guys are right though, this Indy route has a lot of potential. Hope the author comes up with a fix for this one.Thx all..............

RE:

Well when I first started running the route I had several problem locations.
1.)Hart Yard (roughly MP 233) west of Muncie
2.)Winchester right behind the Ancor Hocking glass plant, before the overpass.
3.)Sometimes at CP IU in Indy. Then after reloading the sim, I didn't have a problem at any locations. 121 or at Quincy. But this didn't last long, about a week, then while running west I can through at Quincy and ran into a major derailment (stacked up the entire train).
After bringing a train from Ridgeway to Quincy I stopped, uncoupled and brought a single engine up to the crossovers, things looked ok, but I noticed (like several other locations) that the track was slightly out of align. So I went over it, nothing happened, backed up and got my train. When I came over it, I got the broken coupler issue, right at the diamond!Don't know if the track alignment is just with my computer (2.8ghz, 512) but I have noticed other locations (Anderson Yard) and on the east side of Muncie where the track isn't aligned and I don't have any problems.
