Jul-11-01, 04:04 PM (EST) "Keeping "AI" trains on schedule AND Metroliner E60" I'm working on an "accurate" NEC activity, and I wanted to add all the other traffic on the line... Two problems...The main problem is that all of my "AI" trains are consistently late. I set the timetables to the real timetable times and the activity editor did not complain in the least, but when I run the activity (in the sim or the activity editor) the train does not follow it acurately. (Although I can't get them much faster, I've found slower timetables will run even slower.) I set up a test activity to experiment with this, and I found by racing another Acela Express it was only going 60 mph from Philadelphia to Wilmington, and thus it arrived 10 minutes behind schedule. Is there any way to make sure they keep schedule? Also, has anyone figured out how to make a drivable E60 (what MSTS calls a Metroliner) work in an activity? I downloaded the MetrolinerXtra file and upgraded the speed limit to 90 mph, but I would love to make a real activity for one of these. Let's see if we can't figure this problem out...Finally, I live in Philadelphia, and I have a pretty good knowledge of the corridor. It seems to me that the E60s are mostly used for long-haul trains like the Vermonter and the Silver Meteor, Star, etc. -- not Metroliner services at all. Even though that was the plan when they were purchased in the 1970s, their top speed was limited to 90mph. What's missing from MSTS are the real workhorses of the corridor, the AEM-7s. Amtrak uses them for almost everything, except upon the rare chance you'll see an HHP-8, Express, E60.Thanks to anybody who can help with any of these issues!--Rich Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

also, if ur making activities for sharing, take care about what "hybrid" type equipment you introduce into the activity that the enduser may not have, and will give him or her unpacking problems. i think what we activity designers may have to live with is using the completely default equipment and consists from out-of-box and only making recommendations to the end users as to what equipment and "skins" we had in mind when making the activity. the msts activity editor looks to be very unfriendly to us designers.

Rich I made a stab at a "upgraded" E-60 based on Tom Cain's hack (the one with the "fixed" lights) and it is now available here in the library... I have made several adventures using the E-60... Actually I take something like the night owl or K-Train and using it as a template change the times, consists and traffic patterns around.... pretty straight forward but tedious...
