For the second time in less than two years, I am ready to uninstall MSTS and put it in the closet. I am more convinced than ever that it is software for the advanced computer person, not for the senior citizen railroad fan like me. It's too bad, because MSTS has the potential to be great entertainment. My problem: All of sudden, I can not longer view any simulated train movement in the Activity Editor. Setting the time and hitting play produces zilch. What am I doing wrong?
Well Hello Ron,There are a lot of non computer people have got the sim running fine. Senior or not, I will keep going until it works.Do you have Conbuilder and Route Riter? What equipment did you install last? system specs?Derek
This one happened to me the other day. Fortunately, there was a thread going at the time on how to fix it. Here's what you do:1. From the Start menu, choose "Run", then type in "regedit". 2. The Registry Editor appears. 3. Navigate the tree on the left side to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\1.0\HWRenderer 4. A whole bunch of stuff shows up on the right side. 5. Click on "AE_NormalView". 6. In the Edit menu, choose "Delete". 7. Close the Registry Editor, and the next time you fire up the AE, the VCR will work.Your next question is probably, "How the Hell could anybody have been expected to know to do that?" All I can tell you is, I'm glad somebody did... I wouldn't have.
Thanks, Bob. That worked fine. I'm wise enough not to lose any sleep wondering why that value flipped or whatever after working normally. I learned early on that MSTS has flukes like a fleet of whales. For those of you in the studio audience, this area of the registry is where you kill the opening screen logo. Most readers have probably already done so, but I'll repeat here.Set the ShowLogo value to "0" and you'll jump right into the program.Again, thanks to Bob for the simple and non-condescending reply. That's why I asked here first. This forum has been behind MSTS from Day 1 and that's when I bought my software!Ron Chico CA
Thank you Bob for your reply to problems I have with my VCR playback,I have done as you suggested in a reply to someone else on the 17th dec but it has not worked.Any other ideas?
