I recently downloaded the CRR activity (crrsoupd.zip) from Train-Sim file file library. There appears to be at least four files missing from the file readme list. The required files appear to be - crr1092.zip, hopprcbq.zip, sf40fps1.zip, and ichppr1.zip.After downloading and installing these (and other miscellaneous shape files), I finally got this activity to work.I am unable to complete to first part of the activity, which is to drop off eight cars at the NS Interchange. The switch from the interchange to NS Interchange will NOT allow my train to REVERSE through it!?? The train seems to "bounce" back to the forward direction everytime!
You have to reverse through this switch in order to drop the cars off at NS Interchange. I tried leaving the eight cars on the main interchange, but that didn't seem to work as I was then unable to pick up (couple to) the other cars required for pick up at nearby setoffs.Has anyone suceeded in completing the above activity? If so, how? Thanks.

RE: Clinchfield (CRR) Activity For Blue Ridge Subdivsio

I had the same problem. If I remember correctly, I stopped my train "on the main" and dropped off the cars at the NS junction. I then backed to couple to the other cars, but would bounce away from them like you describe. Increasing my speed would result in a derail. Those were the only two things I could do- -bounce or derail. I assumed it was related to a bounding box issue, so I ran that editor on all of my cars/locos and fixed the ones that needed it but still had the same problem in the sim. I tried various coupling options, trying different sequences or trying to couple to different cars. I even dropped off one of the locos and attempted to couple with another one, but even that didn't work. I finally gave up.

Hey Meeshu and Clayton, let me ask you three question's about how the activity from Germany worked. When you got to Marion, could you pull up in front of the siding, Start your engine in reverse for a few feet and get the switch to change to the siding, so you can back into it. Or did you have to manualy change the switch to the siding with the Alt + G key, so you can back into it. No matter which way you did it did the switch aid then show the switch set for the siding.I might try my hand at fixing his activity as a learning tool. If I can fix it, I will Post the fix. Thanks GuysPhil Senteraka

I manually switched the siding, and the Switching Aid did indicate that the switch had changed.

RE: Clinchfield (CRR) Activity For Blue Ridge Subdivsio

I switched manually using "shift + G", the switch then changes to allow you to reverse into the siding (in theory).Since my first post, I found that the Erie Lackawanna gondolas (the cars you have to pick up at Marion) bounding box and shape size were apparently the wrong size. So I modified the files as follows -for us2elgon.wag file (changes in red) - Size ( 3m 3m 15.1m), InertiaTensor ( Box (3m 3m 15.1m) )for us2elgon.sd file (again changes in red) - ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.5 1.065 -7.55 1.5 3 7.55 )These values were arrived at by combination of logic and guess work. I tried Bounding Box Editor, on the gondola files, prior to this but it did not give good results. The modified values above allowed me to couple successfully to the gondolas and move them off to form the new consist.THIS time I was able to successfully reverse into the NS Interchange without bouncing back to drop off the eight cars. But I did notice that there was some resistance to this reversing by the cars bunching up real tight towards the locomotives. I suspect that there may be some issue with the switch that needs to be investigated.Anyway, I was able to complete the activity (pick up and drop off cars)!I would be interested to see if anyone comes up with a solution to the switch(?) problem.Cheers.

Well I got to hand it to you. That is something I would not have figured out. I have looked at the activity today on the editor. And I was out to lunch on my idea, of what might be wrong. So I'm glad you figured it out Meeshu. I dont think Im going to try to work on it anyway. I noticed after rereading the README file for it. That it is freeware, so with out his premission I shouldnt do it anyway. But thanks for the replys youall. Phil Senteraka

This is exactly what I did (as mentioned in my post above), but I still had the problem. I opened the boundary box editor again and was going to put in the values you suggest. However, I got a warning that may explain why you're getting the problem you describe (i.e. bunching up). Below is a screenshot of the warning.

Thanks for your message. The EL gondola box sizes which I modified are not an issue here with respect to the bunching up at NS interchange switch, because these gondolas are placed on the main consist first. The only cars being reversed into NS interchange are the original consists first eight cars whose box sizes I did not modify. However, here are the basic details of the box sizes I used for the EL gondolas.
The bounding box is equal to the box size (width = 1.5m - -1.5m = 1.5m + 1.5m =3m, and length = 7.55m - -7.55m = 7.55m + 7.55m = 15.1m; the height is apparently calculated differently, so that the lower value (1.065m) is height above ground, and the upper value (3m) equals the box size) so it should satisfy the warning message.I suspect that the (excessive?) bunching up of the train is caused by resistance while going through the switch to NS interchange. Perhaps the switch bounding box is not correctly defined? I may look into that later on.Note that I managed to reverse the train into NS interchange by making a "run" for the switch at some speed so the train had sufficient momentum to go through the switch. Also, I managed to complete the activity, at last!
