Hi,Whenever I make up an activity for an AI train, I cannot make it wait longer than about 1 sec at any stage. When you select 'wait' it doesn't seem to matter how many seconds you insert in the dialogue box I just end up with the train waiting 1 sec only.Any ideas? am I doing something obviously wrong.thanks in advance Gary
Gary, sorry but the wait feature, doesnt work. It looks like it does in the VCR tool. But once you exit the Activity Editor. It resets to zero. There is no known cure for it. The Activity Editor aint much, but its all we got.
Actually there is a way to change the wait time of a platform. You'll need to "brave-it" going into RE and make a change. If you are so inclined to do so, here's what you can do:Go into Route Editor and load your route. Go to the the platform and you will see a green arrow type "modules" that extend along the platform. Press F2, and click on one of the green arrows and it will turn clear with black lines...that means it is selected. Right-click and a window will pop up. The default setting are 3 minutes wait time with 20 passengers to load. Change the time to whatever you need. I select mine at 5 minutes or more. You should change the passenger amount, this can in itself make a difference in the activity editor. Once you've made the change...save and go out of RE. Test the platform in the Activity editor. You may notice that the wait time may not be 5 minutes or whatever you chose, but it will be longer than before. The amount of passengers (over 20) can and will extend the wait time also. An example: In Hoodoo Pass, the Hoodoo Pass platform has a long wait time (or should be anyway), whereas the others are 1 to 2 minutes wait. I still need to edit these platforms in the next version. The VCR function in the Activity editor is not accurate...but close. Here's is an excerpt of a post from the NERR forum that might help also:.."Hi there, I am heading up the feasibility team and I would just like to put some comments to any would be activity developers that will aid in the creation of activities. First and most important thing, when you are creating an activity DO NOT rely on the vcr tool to judge time, this tool is completely out to lunch in judging the time it will take to run your route. As an example, someone once wanted to test a path on Kicking Hourse Pass route because the VCR told him it should take 3 hours to run but when he ran it it only took 2 hours, well it only took 2. I usually don't even bother with the VCR because of this problem. So far the best way I know to get the time is to lay down your path and then run the path yourself noting down the times where you might want to have an AI meet. After that you can go back in and redo the activity adding AI trains and setting times for passenger trains. In order to change the amount of time that the train must wait at a platform you can do a right click on the blue platform markers and change the number of passengers. I think it takes about 5 seconds per passenger but this does not always seem to be the case. The easiest way to find out how long is to change the number of passengers and then go into Edit Timetable and click recalculate this, it will then give you the amount of time of a wait for that platform, don't worry about the other times right now. When you have the waits correct for all the platforms you can then go in and change arrival and departure times of your passenger train. OK, in order to do this it will sound really stupid but it is the way MSTS AE has set it up. Go into Edit Timetable and do the following: 1. Double click on the arrival time for the platform you are interested in and enter in the time that you want the train to arrive. Hit OK 2. Double click on the ARIVAL time for the platform you are interested in and enter the DEPARTURE time of the train. That will usually be the arrival time plus the time it takes to load the passengers onto the train. Yes, I am not nuts, you must put the departure time in the arrival time for this to work Then hit OK 3. Double click on the arrival time for the platform you are interested in and reenter the time that you want the train to arrive, yes you have to enter the time in twice to have a proper arrival and departure time. You should now have a proper schedule and not one of those idiot ones that the AE calculates for you. 4. Totally disregard the performance setting, I have no idea what that does." -elementb of NERRHope that helps.Kip 3DTS Route Developer 3dtrainstuff.com The Priest River Railroad"...it's so fictional, it's almost real" PRRR WesiteNow released: PRRR's Hoodoo Pass Route 1.5
Probably the easiest way to increase wait times is to add passengers to the station. The more passengers, the longer the wait. I would suspect with the one-second waits, that you have zero passengers at the station.
There is no need to go in to the route editor to change this. It can be changed in the activity editor by right clicking on the platform markers.Henrik
I had that problem but yesterday I set up a train to wait at a station and it did! I recently added the latest update from microsoft.Another way around it is to have 3 or 4 waits very close together, that way at least it is in the station for a short while.
