I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in using the RDC1 Dayliner in passenger activities. Basically, I can't get it to pick up passengers. When it arrives at the station there is no signal to press return to begin passenger loading and if you press return nothing happens. I've tried the same activity with another passenger consist and it works fine. Could it be that it is classified as a diesel and not a carriage? If anyone has any insight into this let me know. Thanks.Yardmaster
I don't know that particular train, but even a diesl loc can have passenger capacity (like the trains on the Japanese mountain route, for instance). But the engine file ('.eng') should contain a line like:PassengerCapacity ( 100.0 )If that is not there, MSTS will see it as just a loc and will not pick up passengers.Frank.
Frank,Your suggestion worked. I figured it required some modification to the .eng file, but I never would have figured it out myself. Thanks. By the way, I posted another question on the msts general forum a few days ago, but I probably should have posted it in one of the other forums. You probably know the answer to this. When the loading of passengers is finished on the Northeast Corridor route a verbal all clear to proceed signal is given. I don't hear this on the other routes. Is this correct, or is something wrong with my installation of msts? Thanks again.John(Yardmaster)
I don't think it's your installation, some routes do have a departure sound and some don't. On the Japanese lines, it's a buzzing sound. On the NE corridor it's the spoken message. If you want you can modify this as well (I guess, I didn't try it myself). You need to look into the sound directory of the route and open the ingame.sms file. This line controls the departing sound: Discrete_Trigger ( 60 PlayOneShot ( 1 File ( "d_perm_03.wav" -1 ) SelectionMethod ( RandomSelection ) ) )This one plays the 'OK to proceed' message.Good luck (and make backups of the original files!)Frank.
