"The installed track database for this route is version 56, the activity was built on version 93 continue?"I've had several questions from users about the above question that pops up when unpacking activities. It does look rather daunting!!!I've told them not to worry and go ahead and say yes, but I don't know the exact reason for the message. I do know that there is a serial number at the top of the activity file when viewed with wordpad that corresponds with one of the "version" numbers, but that's about all I know.Anyone..anyone...anyone?Regards, Denny nectrackteam@aol.com http://hometown.aol.com/nectrackteam/main.html
I found that if I install the activity and then open it in the AE it will fix that. However, you may need to open timetable and have it recalculate it.Kevin Arceneaux gdapia
hi kev, It isn't necessarily a problem except to cause the unsuspecting user to scratch his or her head and wonder whether they're on their way to melt-down-ville by clicking on yes. But I just wanted to know what is actually causing the message in the first place.Regards, Denny nectrackteam@aol.com http://hometown.aol.com/nectrackteam/main.html
Yeah I know, been trying to figure that out and can't. The only time I have seen it is on the NEC when I try to use an activity done for an earlier version. I know thats what you were looking for and threw that in for folks who don't know what to do about it.Kevin Arceneaux gdapia
Kevin, I just found something. Each route has a TDB file in it's root folder. In that TDB file is a serial number at the top of the page. That's the number that pops up as a "version #" in that unpack msg. The other "version #" to pop up in the msg is the serial number in the activity .act file when the 2 #'s don't jibe. They're just called "version" instead of "serial". Also, I think the number goes up with the number of changes/additions made on the route/activity. What do you think?Denny
That would make sense, a rare occurance in MSTS. I think you are right about have it changes. It probably changes each time you modify and save the track database when you are working in the route editor.Kevin Arceneaux gdapia
