RE: Player Service crashes editor

<Is this an activity that you've made causing the crash?>No, it's *any* activity (including MSTS standard ones)<Did you Uninstall or delete MSTS before re-installing it?>No, just re-installed. I see what's coming, but I'd hate to have to go through all that hassle yet again !Ian

RE: Player Service crashes editor

I'm glad you see it coming anyway.
2 things:
1. In the worst case scenario, before you dropkick the route, copy any special folders into a temp folder so you can reuse those; as in trainsets.
2. Did you alter any activities? If so you might be able to isolate the problem. What routes do you dabble in? Was this from a download activity from someone else?Regards,
Denny

RE: Player Service crashes editor

Denny,I think that I've cracked the problem. As everyone probably knows, MSTS loves to fall over if there's any error in a train or a consist.By elimination, I worked out that consists were the problem and that the suspect consists all had the & character (ampersand) in the name/title. Carlos Gomez's great ConBuilder didn't seem to be testing those files thoroughly enough and failed to spot a missing engine (I've emailed him). So all looked well, but it wasn't.Once I downloaded and installed the missing engines, all was well again. So, if anyone reading this message has had the same problem, this might help. And activity builders - perhaps you shouldn't use the & character.BTW : Has anyone written a utility to find consists, services and paths which are not used in any activity ? If not, I might give it a try.Ian

Ian,
Believe me, I'm not ducking you, but alogorithm looks alarming like a math word.
I was advised by my 2nd yr algebra instructor that he would pass me, even give me a C, but that I should never pursue any career connected with math.
I assured him I wouldn't and I've tried to follow that advise as best as I could!
But I know someone on vacation how just may be able to help. Send me your email address and I'll have him contact when he returns.Regards,
Denny

RE: Player Service crashes editor

hi all,Bizzy with MSTS for 3 months now I have the same problem with the activity editor and player: hanging............For a while ago the editor was running but i wasn't active with the editor because of missing cons, worlds, .s, .sd, etc etc.
Stil learning now.I think since i have installed a paticioular route (whit no activities) the editor quite with nomore then send don't send.
I checked as much as possible al files with ConBuilder, ActivityAnalyzer, RouteControl EngMod and ActivityChanger and it gave me a lot of errorsigns good for days work. But not that one I need to solve the problem. So, the only way is to reinstall MSTS again ? I thought I did once, but I didn't see any poss. to only reinstall. It just rans out the whole installation. Since then my routes are growing (9 Gb now oooopps) and I have no good feeling about this method unless it's the ultimate solution. If somebody has more info for me to look at, pleasse give me a sign !
Nights are being later and later because I only want to make an activity in a route with only 'explore the route' in it (editor shuts down in all routes !!!) It must be simple isn't it ??????????gr EDje1205
