I have started building an activity for Marias Pass V3.0. After saving, exiting the editor, and opening Train Simulator, it freezes when I select the activity in the Activities list. All of the other activities work fine, only the one I've created presents the problem. I have tried creating the activity from scratch, and "kitbashing" an existing one. I get the same result either way. Not only does MSTS freeze up, I have to completely turn off the computer because it's locked up. On infrequent occasions, the "Microsoft Simulator has experienced an error" message will pop up. I select "Don't send," and the program will dump out and return me to the desktop with no problems.Any suggestions? I've looked through the forum, but can't find a problem exactly like this one.Thanks...
I haven't seen this particular problem so far either. I think the best approach is to start making a very simple activity (default consist and no AI traffic or events) first and see if that works. If it does, build it out an see when things go wrong. If it freezes, try making an small activity for another route. You might narrow down a bit on the cause like that.Good luck..Frank.
You can take what Frank says to the bank. He knows activity building. I have had the opportunity to beta test some of his work. He is good!Do you have Rich Garber's activity tutorial from the file library? I believe it is acttutv1.zip. Or do a search on "Rich Garber." It is a very well done document that is easy to understand.Carlyle Thompson ACL Purple and Silver
Hi Godfollower !I had a similar problem with self made activity. No problems with the activity editor, no problems reported from route control. The reason was a corrupted .eng file of the locomotive. I found out by making a simple acivity with the original (currupted) consist and MSTS still crashed. After building a new consist with a clean .eng file, everthing worked fine.Hope this helps.Felix
Thanks, Felix! That just might be it! I was using the default (driveable) Genesis locomotive and Superliners from Railroadpix.com. I'll try some divide and conquer techniques and see what I come up with. Thanks again!Godfollower
