Hi How do i setup an activity so that for example a couple of engines headup to columbia falls, go past a switch, reverse onto a siding to get the cars, travel to another location where they drop off the cars, use the Wye, couple onto another set of cars, and take them to a siding nearby the starting point? i've tried using reverse points but they don't seem to work properly. Should i put a reverse point behind the cars i'm originaly coupling to? Any help would be valued.
The #1 rule with reverse points is that the consist doing the reversing MUST fit between the reverse point and the track node (black dot at the switch). If any portion of the consist touches the black dot as it also touches the reverse point it wont trip and you'll chase the reverse point down the track. You need a reverse point every time you reverse, for the Dispatcher to throw the switches for you. But after a switch reverse points only do this , and reset the path, when the last railcar has passed that very switch. So you would possibly be better off throwing the switches manually _it's more fun anyway_. In no ways does this hinder placing Location Events anywhere on the route, even outside of any path. Set a main path, and go picking up/dropping off your cars on (manual) sidings ad lib. Edit a few similar activities from various routes, and see how other developpers cope with it !Love and Peace
i want the train to collect the cars from the siding at columbia falls(their all on the one siding) continue up to Essex, drop off the cars, pick some others up and head back down to Whitefish and this is on the default Marias Pass. How do you make the path optional on a default routew anyhow? There's something in the activity editor path changer called optional path: y/n? thingo, but i'm not sure how to use it.
I just posted a tutorial on making dead-on reverse points at the Southern Nevada Holding Corporation website. You can find it in the Activity Editing section of the NEC Track Team page. Regards, Denny nectrackteam@aol.com http://hometown.aol.com/nectrackteam/main.html
