No horn and a very loud noise in the background like someone sawing wood. Otherwise it ran well. I only ran it as far as Baltimore. I then tried all my other trains and they all had their sound screwed up too. I deleted the Acela 2150 activity and everything seems to have come back to normal.My advice is to throw that program in the can. Too bad because I would like to have one activity to run an Acela from DC to Philly without all kinds of construction slowdowns. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Acela - 2150 activity from the file libray" I got that one to work fine but couldn't get some other activities to run on my system that some people reported no problems with. I can only suspect that the intermittent problems orginates with MSTS itself for there is no logical reason why one activty will load and run on one system and not another when both have loaded other activities successfully. For myself, I've quit beating myself over the head worrying about it. I use the ativities that load and store the ones that don't in hope of a quick release of the much need activity patch from M$. "RE: Acela - 2150 activity from the file libray" Most of the time the problem is that you don't have the proper loco/rolling stock that the activity is looking for OR you have the right stuff it just isn't names of the files are not the same as you have....for instance the shell oil tanker...I have it as Shell Tanker, but one of the aciivities has it as Shell_oil_y!Chris Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Acela - 2150 activity from the file libray" to all you guys, i had trouble with this one too. and another completely screwed my puter. had to re-format and do a complete recover. i lost everything i had accumulated including a good activity that was "clean". (backem up on a floppy).
for now, i'm done downloading activities. rules, no commandments for activity design need to be posted here in bold underlined type outlining the must-do rules and we all have to subscribe to them.
this part of the sim is the most disappointing to me. so much potential but so many problems.
i say it again. the people with these sites having activities for download should pull every activity off and let the author know they'll have to re-do the activity using proper procedures.
the only activity i know that is "clean" is the CSX-k train at 3d train-stuff.

Jul-07-01, 07:39 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Acela - 2150 activity from the file libray" I back you 100 %. Had the same problem but what saved me was a PC lock up. Activities must use the unpacker period. If an engine switch is to take place that must be included also the consist files. With the flaws in MSTS, for everything to work the addons have to be done right. No if's But's or why's. There has to be a complete text file included including comeplete installation instructions. No complete text file, NO EXTRACTION!!
Follow those rules and you will receive no error messages.Word to the wise should be suficient!!!~!!

Under that I have Activities, Routes, Locos, Cars, etc. Also have Archive. I DL to the DLs directory then when I look at what's in the zip file, move it to the appropriate subdir. After a DL session I move anything I haven't installed to a subdir called Untested. That way I know to go back when I have time and look these files over again. I do this for every game I install. In a real pinch you could put this DL folder to a special drive area and call it TrainSimDLs, ZeusDLs, etc. Matter of fact, I think I'm gonna do this on this weekend (holiday, you know).

"RE: Acela - 2150 activity from the file libray" What I do with all the original downloads, I burn them on a CD with a table of contents, so I know exactly what what the zip files are. BTW A good investment is spending $10 for MSTS Activity Analysis. It saves you a he-- of a lot of trouble determing what the problems with the activities. I haven ecountered one problem with the NEC, but later determined it was "engineer"'s fault.Alex

I have trashed the other activies that are not packaged. The ones that are not packaged, lack files. Haste makes waste!!Alex
