To those who were looking forward to the "latest" Chicago "L" route at the Library, avoid Chicago Elevated Railway 2.0 at all costs! To those of you who downloaded the route, I advise you to delete it! The route is a ripoff!!! It's an earlier version than the one ccyko last uploaded 2 years ago. It has alot fewer stations, the Red Line between Roosevelt and Dan Ryan wasn't built, and is 98% underground - as the modifier thinks that of the "L", which is NOT - than L1 v0.6.I e-mailed Mr. Cyko if the modifier had permission to modify his abandoned route and e-mailed me back that he, Mr. Cyko, had NO involvement in that project and that the modifier did as he wishes without consent.Again, do not download that ripoff route and avoid it at all costs!!!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-03 AT 05:15 AM (EDT)

Yeah, I deleted it from my HD because I knew there was something wrong with it. All I can see is all tunnels and no outside scenery. I'm glad I saved the last version L1v0.6 (or something like that) on the CD. I plan on reinstalling it from my saved CD. I'm with the rest of you guys that this guy who bootlegged this route should be banned, too. Ken

RE: Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF!

Need to look again, Pat, definitely a bootleg copy. I think in this case he means 'ripoff" as in Chris Cyko got ripped off, I doubt like hell this hack was made with his blessing.bigerlas@rbcmail.ruThat ".ru" at the end usually indicates Russia, which following the breakup of the Soviet union is going thru some rather chaotic times, and you sometimes find some wierd websites in Russia. Possibly they assume "abandonware" for files only a couple years old, who knows.I just installed and looked it over in the route editor, and it is indeed the L1 route with some very strange fantasy alterations that look like someone's idea of Tokyo-Hakone meets the Moscow subway. It don't even remotely resemble the Chicago Elevated now, the ground level in the Loop was raised to track level and even trees, bushes, and weedlines planted in the middle of Lake and Wells, for godsakes! The Lake Street line has been converted from an Elevated to a Subway for most of its length, and ends at Ridgeland with the Central Avenue and Austin Boulevard stops removed, So it goes right from Laramie to Ridgeland, and ends just beyond that. My neighborhood is residential/commercial/light industrial, and the tallest building in the area is Brach's Candy over by the former C&NW 40th Street Yards, maybe 10 stories or so. In this route it has densely packed skyscrapers all over the place, maybe this guy is trying to draw a new urban renewal blueprint for Hizzoner Junior!Anyway, illegal or not, it's not even remotely close to accurate, and the scenery stinks on ice (L1 was never finished, but what this guy did made it worse rather than improving it), so it's not even worth the download.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-03 AT 06:39 PM (EDT)

I smelled something fishy when I downloaded it - L1 was never released in any version other then v0.6. Mr Larionov should be ashamed of what he has done, and especially that his "version" is designed to override the original!I have to say though, that I've never laughed harder in my life when I saw the loop at ground level.....Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF! – image 7Boy, did I envision something crazy!Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF! – image 8Anyway, I do hope that the original version of L1 is brought back in the libary, and Larionov's removed. I also hope that Mr. Larionov has a bit more consideration in the future for others.Kurt

RE: Chicago

I am surpise of what happen to the old Chicago Elevation. I mean hear I was recreating the L1 and when I visited the Library I saw L1 at its latest, and I deleted the one I was working on. Adding Scenery, Adding new Signals and speedlimits, etc. When I got rid of my work thinking that this ripoff would rid me of having to work on this project for ever. Now I am upset, and the thing about it is Why would this guy released something into the library that he knows is incorrect? And right now I don't even want to go back and start all over again. I was using the best resources I could find, and used good building material such as xtracks. I say this crap has got to stop now. This route looks more like the NYC Subway than the Chicago Elevation Railways.

RE: Chicago

The "El", you say? There were times when I DID think there were trees in Lake Michigan, I won't say wht I was doing but it involved evenings at the "Prince of Wells" - a real Chicagoan will recognizre the reference. Or, perhaps, it was the Exchequer and a little too much Bass Ale - with far too many peanuts. Not fit to be around, no wonder I thought there were trees along the El and the CTA ran all the way across Lake Mich to Benton Harbor. I wondered about that posting. Seemed way to small, even with the modernized RRiter approach to packaging routes. Bing

RE: Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF!

Consider this before you say anything else. The route was a work in progress. It was not yet complete. If you search Chicago El in the traction forum, you will find many posts from Chris about what happened to him. He was arrested by the CTA for taking pictures in a station for development of his MSTS route. I think he also moved.

RE: Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF!

I don't want to get loud with you, but perhaps you should consider this:Did you even try L1 v0.6d that used to be available in the File Library until it was replaced with the ripoff route or the L1 v0.6d Special Edition that's available at http://www.railserve.com ? Because if you did, you'd know the difference between that and the ripoff route that's so-called named "Chicago Elevated Railway v2.0" that Mr. Larionov illegally made from an earlier version than v0.6d! The real Chicago 'L' system is not completely underground. If it's anybody who should do a search on Mr. Cyko's progress, it's you. I always follow his progress on the Chicago 'L' route that he creates and not some moron who doesn't know anything about the system. The reason why I'm interested in the Chicago 'L' route is that it's somewhat like the NYC Subway System. Therefore, it makes me become being one of the people who loves to get his/her hands on the route as well as sticking to Chris's progress on that project. So, if you haven't followed up until the recent release of Chicago 'L' v2.0, then you shouldn't be considering me on Chris's progress on the route that I already know about. Again, it's a ripoff route that Mr. Cyko had NO involvement in it what-so-ever!

RE: Chicago "L" 2.0 is a RIPOFF!

I thought you were talking about Chris Cyko's L2, and not the L1v2 ripoff. Search through these complaining threads and look for a post from Kurt about Chris's L2. His route is almost done, according to Kurt. That's why the new el cars are in the file library. If you see L2, it does NOT mean L1 V2. If Chris sees this thread, he won't be too happy about it. I did try that route, and I used it until the first part of the L2 was released (part of the subway). I am excited about the L2 as well, but mostly because it will be the first prototypical rapid transit route for MSTS. You might want to think twice before pulling out the flamethrower next time.
