TsTools II is now available from the downloads page at http://ts-tools.com/ . I am just completing the new fully illustrated User Guide and this will be available in a few days. In the meantime the TsTools II zip file contains release notes detailing the changes made since the last release. The program has been thoroughly tested, but as with all new software releases the real test comes when the distribution begins and users with various system configurations begin to use it. It should always be a standard practice to back up files before working on them in a 3rd party program, but since this new release is the first TsTools release to modify the w files, I thought it prudent to mention backups again. TsTools will backup any w files that it edits, but better safe than sorry. Please make sure, at the very least, that you familiarise yourself with the contents of the release notes. For those that have already ordered a TsTools II license, I shall be emailing out the registration keys within the next day or so - should you not receive it, please contact me directly at dave@ts-tools.com.I will be very happy to receive feedback on any problems encountered.
Cheers
Dave C

I'll DL it as soon as I get home from work....it will give me a change to fiddle with a few things on my route. Which looks like I may have to start over again on.

I also had a TDB-problem, but also the 'great white void', even loading everything from a backup. Still don't know what happened. Anyway, keeps us busy, doesn't it?Building Greater Toronto Area incl. TTC-metrolines. Had to restart everything. Tracks 10% ready now.......

RE: TsTools II now available for download

With the East Metro RR route, I hand carved the terrain through the whole route. Took weeks. With Ohio Rail, I used what was called the DEM Tutorial method and demmed the whole route. Took hours. With Canton my newest route, I used TS-Tools. Took minutes. What used to be the worst, tedious and longest part of route building, is now done in a cinch. Ts-Tools is easy to learn and easy to do.Rich Garber

RE: TsTools II now available for download

Well thanks everyone for the kind words (lets hope the new version lives up to it )And for Rich especially - the Reg Key procedure is simplified in the new version, so hopefully this will make it an even more pleasant experience. There have been one or two little things showing up - all of which just need awareness of a few things to get around - I will get the faq section at the website updated with all the latest info just as soon as I get that new manual finished - in the meantime please feel free to contact me or post in the forums with any problems.CheersDave C

RE: TsTools II now available for download

Dave,I saw that, and you bet, that perfects a great product! I didn't know you was so close to releasing tst2 and barely got my payment in time before the second version came out. Talk about timing. I still enjoy and use TS-Tools a great deal for 'other' things other than demming. I got an idea for ts-tools 2 if it hasn't already been implemented. There's a few here that have converted me to the 'less poly great taste' way of doing things when it comes to structure building. Then another fella goes and gets me into 'distance levels.' I tried this and adjusting distance levels does help alot. And though I haven't been able to try tst2 just yet, I get the impression you can see buildings and all. If that's true, what could also be a neat feature, if it's not already implemented, is ranging circles depicting how far and object can be seen, or not, set by the distance levels. What worries me when setting these levels to a smaller level is I might set a building to where it can't be seen. Or for that matter, I might be placing vegetation or buildings which can't be seen either. Just a thought but if that can be added, while it's not earth shattering, it might make a difference for us folks who get a bit overboard with detail. I wouldn't be surprised if a good quarter of the vegetation I placed in OR isn't seen for this reason.Rich GarberRich Garber

Rich,What an excellent idea - it should (in theory) be very simple to implement - I'll have a fiddle with it.CheersDave

RE: TsTools II now available for download

Dave,Good luck adding that. I think implementing a way that it makes sense might be a little tough. I was thinking also since our view is also fixed to the track that another option would outline how far we can see from the track. This way we would also know beforehand how far away not to place objects. Kinda like a guide showing a corridor for what area makes sense to place. I'm not sure how far we can see. Seems like half a tile. Best of luck to ya!Rich Garber

RE: TsTools II now available for download

In the past, I often wished that there was another way to 'view' the routes path at the location I was at and in the direction I was facing. This is somewhat related to what Rich was mentioning (perhaps a different perspective though). It would be great to see a 'cross section' of the terrain at the point I was viewing and perpendicular to the direction I was facing. This would indicate exactly where line of sight paths eliminate the view of any terrain and would give an indication of altitudes that an object would need to be in order to be seen when placed on hidden terrain. Not sure if TST is the right interface as is, but even so, it might open up some new opportunities.Martyn T. Some interesting thoughts there Martyn. Please feel free to keep feeding me ideas like this - I don't know how much of it I'll have the chance to take up, but you never know.CheersDave
