How can I prevent the "Proceding Crash" Message? – image 1

LAST EDITED ON Jun-21-03 AT 10:13 PM (EDT)

Out of all the most anoying bugs, this has got to be the worst! I do not know what causes it, but when I delete track sections, sometimes I get this message when trying to save! I hit file save, and this is what comes up. Other times It does not appear after deleting track, and everything goes fine. If I hit "DELETE" RE crashes and I get the "Send/Don't Send" message, if I do not, I lose my work because it will not save. How do I prevent this message or better yet fix it? I have asked, but no one knows what I was talking about. When it just happened again, I got a screen shot. Also, I have no signals, so what is that signal object? Thanks!

RE: How can I prevent the "Proceding Crash" Message?

The RE thinks you have signals. The only time I get this message is if a delete a track section that has a signal marker or crossing marker on it. If I press the delete button, everything works OK and I'm able to save. Check in your route folder for a file with your route name and the extension of .tit If it lists signals, then this is why you are getting the error message. I do not know if you can just delete the signal entries in this file or if there is something else you need to do.Rich S.

RE: How can I prevent the "Proceding Crash" Message?

One way of doing it is to delete the .tit file. That one conatains all the info on signals, platform & siding markers, and all that.Hmmm, didn't place any signals in the route and somehow got signal and "unknown marker" objects, hey? Lotta mysteries in MSTS, but I'm gonna take a swag at how you got those. Open another route, Marais pass, for example. Poke around in there for a while, looking at linked switches and signals to see what they are. Now open your route, it asks if you want to save the changes you made to Marias, you say no. After fiddling with your route for a while you try to save, and it gives you a list of unlinked signals! What gives? MEMORY LEAKS. It retained the info from Marias and wrote it into your .tit file! That's why I always stress, when you change from one route to another or from the activity editor to the route editor, it's easy to just click on the other one, but DON'T DO IT! EXIT ALL THE WAY BACK TO DESKTOP. EVERY TIME.It's important, you open the editors and tools, select the activity editor or route editor, edit one activity or one route, you need to close the editors and tools to clear memory, because the unsupported editors and tools are unsupported for a good reason - they're extremely buggy and they do not clear RAM properly, even on Windows XP.So a word to the wise;EXIT ALL THE WAY BACK TO DESKTOP. EVERY TIME.
