All,This shot was taken at the south switch of Mt Shasta siding. You can see that the main takes the diverging route, and at the north switch it takes the straight through route. If I do the same, Can anyone tell if this will cause any operational problems for activities or the signalling? I will use the X-tracks 3 degree switch, so that the curve change wont be too abrupt for the 40mph speed limit through this area.Cheers, David.
You shouldn't have any troubles with it. I've seen this done before any it works without problem. It should just be the same as any other siding.BTW, that sort of looks like one of the equal-lateral switches SP had on many of there line. Theres one up on the east side of Herington, Kansas on the Golden State Route which begins double track at an equal lateral for both the main and siding.Austin Professional Foamer for BNSF http://milwmsts.netfirms.com/
You could also use the 1d right switch, which wouldn't disrupt the curve quite as much, and would keep from having to throw a switch to follow the main.-Chris
Thanks guys. I will try a few options and see which one works best.Austin, I have never heard of an equal-lateral switch. Is it similar to a Wye switch?David.
