Well I got the terrain for my route in Arizona, I tried adding distant mountains, and have not figureed it out yet, I need help with it, the mountains were "floating" above the terrain. Next, how do I get markers to tell where the roads and tracks go for my route, with out any markers, it all looks new to me instead of my home Thanks Support our troops...They would support you if you had to kick someones ass!-SVTS Live! The best thing for creating markers is USAPhotoMaps from www.jdmcox.com It downloads photos and topos from the terraserver database onto your hard drive allowing you to see everything from the rail to roads to rivers, to trees, you name it. If you are using DEMEX, it comes with a handy tool to convert the waypoint files in USAPM into marker files for use in the RE. All you need to know to get started is a lon/lat for a point on your route. After that, you are free to explore the US (but beware of UTM zones, if you come up on one, you'll have to create another starting point on the other side of the UTM zone.If you need more help with USAPM, just search this forum, there are plenty of topics about it deep in the records.Austin Professional Foamer for BNSF http://milwmsts.netfirms.com/
I have set up distant mountains on my route using Demex (TS-Tools and it seem to play quite nicely together), and I am having trouble with floating mountains too. I suspect a that this is occurring at tile junctions maybe? Anyone else had this problem? Demex is really hip tool for creating distant mountains, it only takes a little bit of work to create them. And they do look pretty cool.
This should help:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/9141.htmlI lowered mine by 50 metres and it helped a great deal. But it will be done again by another 50 metres because there are still a few area's where the DMs float.Cheers, DavidEdit: Dont forget to reset the elevation offset back to the figure used when the terrain was created. If a tile has the terrain rebuilt (which I have done on many occaisions ) it will be done with the same negative elevation offset value used on the DMs.
If there are going to be trees, don't do anything about the floating DM until you put in the trees. If the gaps all get masked by the trees, that solves the problem. Otherwise, the DM offset is the best you can do, unless you want to manually edit the normal terrain to raise it some away from the tracks.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonRoute Building 1% Completed Route Mapping 10% Completed Route Photo Map 100% Completed (Now, Can I make the Railroad Profile match the photo map?)
