Gentleman,Just a couple of Pix. tonight, and please check my post in the activities forum and see if you can add anything. The Milwaukee has a directional problem, possibly related to the turnout(s) around the wye at Colorado Jct. I attached a pix. in the activity post. Westbound activities won't set up and save, unless headed into the depot (they actually backed in), but Eastbound activities work fine. RE does not indicate a problem.Tonight, we have tested the NP from a few miles east of HomeStake to the Butte "depot". There were no visible elevation data on topo. maps around the Butte yard, so I had to guess at that, and probably have the tracks here a little too high, but there are roads over and under (and across) the tracks in this area.Pix. 1, is a view from the dome car as the train enters the passenger leads (two of them) which deviate over to the depot. The freight yard is to the left.Pix. 2, shows the train stopped at the "station".I have done some sculpting of scenery on this route ("y" key) and it will be wicked. I wish there was a clearer atmosphere available in MSTS, because in the real world, it was possible to see most of Butte from a point just above Bridge 63, and on down, but the sim is hazy, and you won't see much of Butte until past Skones siding.J. Jerry,I don't know why you should have any problem with the setup at Colorado Jct. I've had this problem on many paths that are over manual switches but I never had problems with automatic switches (yet). Are you using an automatic or manual switch. Try swapping out switches and see what happens. Prehaps if that doesn't work, backup the route, and try to track database rebuild. Otherwise if it keeps happening after all that, I don't really know what to tell you. Maybe one of the route gurus around here can help.I'll get to bookin' on my version of the second sub and see if I have the same problems.Austin Professional Foamer for BNSF http://milwmsts.netfirms.com/

In accordance with how the prototype worked, all of the turnouts are manual. An activity guru suggested putting the west wye switch on the siding, after the siding switch, rather than to the main track. Although not prototype, after I back the thing up to a CD, I will try that. I may also try putting a automatic turnout there just to see what that does. The Milwaukee Rd. used mostly #11 spring switches on their sidings, according to the profile. This would have required a manual throw to enter the siding, but the train could then trail out through the opposite end, and the turnout would spring back to the through route. We don't have #11 frogs, so I have used the 10D turnouts throughout.J. H. Sullivan
RE: North Coast Ltd. makes it to Butte - MILWAUKEE FIXE
Well, now I should figuratively bend over in the praying mantis position, and all of you should figuratively provide a "kick in the rear".Problem was: When I stopped laying track last night, I had just finished the passing track at Dawson, BUT HAD NOT PUT A PIECE BEYOND THE WEST TURNOUT. When I discovered that, I put the wye back together as original, and it works fine, problem was my stupidity - or maybe senility.J. H. Sullivan

Jerry,I borrowed the .env files from Marias 3.1 (untill the time for doing my own comes) for my route and the difference between them and the stock files is amazing. There is a very prominent mountain in one location and I could not work out why it would not show in the sim. It now sticks out like the proverbial But now I need a lo-tile texture editor to make it look right Cheers, David

Jerry,My Dad was the NP Roadmaster in Butte from 1954 to 1961 and I also worked the NP and Butte Short line and mountain 1964-1965. With My knowlage of the the line and various NP data I have also built the Short line from Garrison to Logan. I have been working on it off and on for about two years. The cut you see at Homestake is the NP by-pass of Homestake Tunnel. In fact I was there when the first train (#25) passed through the cut. If there is anything you might need to help you with your building of the short please ask. My latest project is that I have download the satellite data and have re-flagged the whole mainline to make it more realistic. especially in Siler Bow canyon around Durant where I ended up on the wrong side of Silver Bow Creek and east of Pipestone. I used topo data and my experience of the route for my inital build. I never thought of putting it on the forum, did it more for my own enjoyment but am tickled that you are doing it.Dick
