After probably hundreds of hours building a route, Dynamic track is giving me fits. I have use over 50 pieces of it. Now when I try to use it the TDB fails to load upon trying to open RE the next time.
I have read dozens of post on this. It seems this is a problem for a few. I thought I would be lucky and never encounter this problem.
No such luck. I use to have three rouge blue poles pop up upon rebuild this does not happen any more. But now dynamic track is the problem. I can delete the dynamic track in the world file and rebuild. I guess I can quit using it. I do not want to except that though. I know no one probably has an answer for me. This post is just some venting I need to do. It so much fun building a route.
Maybe I will wait fo MSTS2 and start over. So much lost time though

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

If you are saying that you remove the DT from the .w file and the rebuild works OK, then you at least have the means to track this dowm.If the DT is complex (ie: using all five sections and on a grade) Try to break it down to several distinct pieces, possibly some that are ordinary curves or straights.Save and try the rebuild after each piece to nail down just where the failure transition is. Common complaints are that they occur as the track sections cross one or more tile boundaries or approach a tile that contains a number of discrete paths.Don't give up. I am convinced that DT in and of itself is NOT the cause of these problems, just that it is used in situations that the real bug has problems with.Martyn T. Griffin

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

It wasn't clear from your post: Have your tried rebuilding the database, or will rebuild not finish?
It sounds like your .tdb is corrupted. I agree 100% with Martyn. I must have 1000's of DT segments in my 130 mile route without any problems.

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

Rebuild will not finish. Always near the tile that the new DT was placed. This seems to have started when I was replacing some track
in an area and had to finish it out with DT. I even extended the
track replacement to another tile after rebuild failed to see if it would work. The DT does not cross boundaries.

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

When rebuilding the database, the camera coords shown (lat long, and x z) tell exactly the place that crashed it. After the rebuild crash, open the editor and type in the info and jump to the location. Try deleteing what is there and then run rebuild again. After you get a good rebuild, add the pieces you deleted back in and rebuild again. Note there may be several different pieces preventing rebuild from completeing so don't give up if you have to delete more than one track piece to get it to finish.
Good luck
Larry

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

I can't go into RE. "failed to load track database" So I tried to
rebuild a couple of times out of frustration. It completed it. so I went to where I had put that DT. It had no DB line on it(blue poles
at each end. I clicked on the green thingie, CRASH

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

I thinking of going to my back up. I save twice a week. I would lose a little. I went in to the W. file and deleted, rebuilt, and went in to RE. I have blue poles where there never were any. I did replace
the DT, saved, tried to enter RE but "track database failed to load"
Rebuilt, Entered RE and the DT had no DB line on it. I know I can go to back up. I would like to know whats happening though.

RE: DYNAMIC TRACK WOES

Well I'm stumped. I haven't seen this one before so I don't know where to go from here. It's always easier when I can muck around with the route myself. I hope Martyn still has a few ideas.Larry
