Hi Guys,l've created a route with flat tiles, l know there all there l can see them in RE, l've created a DEM map in DEMEX but will it see the route tiles...noooo not a chance. However if l simply load the route tiles into DEMEX with out elevation maps there found just fine, l've checked the co-ords and it all lines up globally so why wont DEMEX overlay my route tiles on its elevation map ?.Most annoying .Best regardsMichael
Most likely cause is that they don't actually align geographically - the lat/lon of the area covered by the tiles doesn't match the lat/lon of your DEM. If this isn't the case you could try posting a couple screenshots of before and after showing the mouse positioned over the same point in both showing the lat/lon.Have you tried generating terrain? If it is just a tile drawing problem (never encountered) then DEMEX would still update the tiles.
John,Boy do l feel a numsk , yeah your right, l had studiously followed the railroad in MSTS RGE, however l was following Stevens pass and not Stampede / Snoqualmie pass, thus all my tiles were 40 miles too far north !!. DEMEX starts in the top North West and extends South and East so it couldnt view the tiles which were North of its display area.I've just grabbed some relevant tiles 40 miles South and they show just fine, now l have to regenerate a whole new quad tree, l think its better to junk this one and start afresh given RGE and RE problems, best start with a clean sheet as they say.Whats a good number for tiles each side of the railroad track ?, l'm guessing 4 or 5 ?, I have also got one DEM map right in the middle not showing up at all, its not in the 167xxxx region like all the rest but 375xxxx so l'm guessing its one of those new ones your readme warns against, l've tried to extract to a format without the xxx*.tz extension but its not playing ball, l'll look at that in detail tonight or else opt for a different set of maps for that area from another Web site source. Thanks for the mental nudges ( its amazing how just a few decimal places out make all the difference ), much appreciated.Best regardsMichael
>Whats a good number for tiles each side of the railroad >track ?, l'm guessing 4 or 5 ?One whole tile of normal terrain is the maximum distance that is visible from the camera. Distant Mountain terrain is necessary for everything beyond 2000m, and is visible for up to about 50 miles.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonRoute Building 1% Completed Route Mapping 10% Completed Route Photo Map 100% Completed (Now, Can I make the Railroad Profile match the photo map?)
