I am trying to do the Southern Pacific Sunset route from Tucson Arizona to Benson and am just starting. Well I downloaded the newest version of DEMEX and began downloading dem.sdts.tar files from mapmart.com. When I used Clicked on open in DEMEX and on one of the files it just said "ERROR READING DEM FILES" I have already gone and done the route in the RGE. Is there anything i can do, or should i just give up now since no one usually helps me.DEMEX Trouble – image 1

I was going to tell you to go to John's forum here, but it appears to be down right now.
IIRC there is a problem with the .gz compression on some files.
Try this;
Take one of your .tar.gz files and unzip it once. It should now be a .tar file (no .gz anymore). Do not unzip any further than this. Now try and open the problem file.
Hope this helps. If not post back....we'll get it figured out.
