When you have a problem, first search the forum sections. Searching Route Design on "whitefish" came up with a thread which references the following: http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=9755&forum=DCForumID3it addresses the world initialization problem. You can also download RouteRiter and check the route. As i remember, it was necessary to locate a significant number of files. If you are serious about it, and want to do the work, Whitefish will run.Bing

RE: whitefish to sandpoint

Whitefish is the BNSF route from Whitefish, MT to Sandpoint, ID.
Instructions for installing Whitefish:
1. Unzip White_1 in the ROUTES directory.
2. Unzip White_2 and put it into the Whitefish directory.
3. Copy the ENVFILES, SOUND, TERRTEX, and TEXTURES folders from the US2 route into the Whitefish route.
4. Go into the terrtex folder and delete the file terrain.ace, and change the name of mntn_low.ace to terrain.ace.Did you do #3 & #4?RegardsEric

RE: whitefish to sandpoint

Problem there is instruction #3 is wrong, if you open whitefish.trk in wordpad, you'll see it uses the template envfiles, not the USA2 envfiles. Copy only the \USA2\Envfiles into whitefish and you'll still get train world initialization failed, copy the \Templates\Envfiles or \TUTORIAL ROUTE\envfiles and it will have the set it's looking for. Or run the batch file in the link Bing provided, again making sure you unzip the zips-within-zips and get all the files into the right places.Have we all thanked Mike Simpson for Route Riter recently? ALL routes used to be this convoluted to install!THANKS, MIKE!!!!

RE: whitefish to sandpoint

I think we ought to come up with the MSTs equivalent of the MOH for the creators of RouteRiter and ConBuilder. First thing I do with new engines and consists is check them in CB, after I check the new route with RRiter. How did we get along before we had these two wonderful utilities? We fumbled around a lot, as I remember, and some otherwise pretty good add-ons were tossed off hard drives.BTW, just to make the cheese binding, if I remember correctly the instruction to change mntn_low.ace to terrain.ace is a bummer. It don't work that way, I had to find a substitue file. Like I said, it takes work, but Whitefish CAN be made to run properly. Getting it to do so is like hitting your thumb with a hammer: It feels so damn good when you stop.Run this baby through RouteRiter, or I can practically guar-ohn-tee there will be regrets for not doing so.Bing
