Is is OK to double TDB? – image 1

Well, as you heard, I have my TDB, but not my track. Is it safe to use it as a reference and then do a rebuild? Thanks!

RE: Is is OK to double TDB?

Hmm, nobody answered your question the first time, hey? Probably because the answer is no, it don't work that way. If you open up one of your good \World\~.w files in wordpad, do a search for "track", you'll see entries like this;TrackObj (
UiD ( 4 )
SectionIdx ( 25 )
Elevation ( 0 )
CollideFlags ( 551 )
FileName ( A2t500r20d.s )
StaticFlags ( 00200180 )
Position ( -302.778 94.3128 -514.489 )
QDirection ( 0 -0.766232 0 0.642564 )
VDbId ( 4294967294 )
StaticDetailLevel ( 0 )
)
TrackObj (
UiD ( 6 )
SectionIdx ( 80 )
Elevation ( 0 )
CollideFlags ( 551 )
FileName ( A1tEndPnt10dLft.s )
StaticFlags ( 00200180 )
Position ( -129.561 94.3128 -512.135 )
QDirection ( 0 -0.643011 0 0.765857 )
VDbId ( 4294967294 )
StaticDetailLevel ( 0 )
)
TrackObj (
UiD ( 7 )
SectionIdx ( 216 )
Elevation ( 0 )
JNodePosn ( -12347 14861 -100.445 94.3128 -504.488 )
CollideFlags ( 551 )
FileName ( A1tPnt10dRgtMnl.s )
StaticFlags ( 00200180 )
Position ( -100.446 94.3128 -504.488 )
QDirection ( 0 -0.573816 0 0.818984 )
VDbId ( 4294967294 )
StaticDetailLevel ( 0 )
)And what all that is, is only the visual information on how the track is displayed. When you run the advanced track database rebuild, that program takes the;Position ( -302.778 94.3128 -514.489 )
QDirection ( 0 -0.766232 0 0.642564 )information from all the .w files, and uses that to create the new track database from the .w files. If you have no track scenery (the visuals) in the .w file, there's nothing to rebuild the .tdb from, and there's no way to reverse it and create the visual from the tdb. That said, what you can try to do (and I'm assuming you don't have a recent good backup or you wouldn't be bothering) is:
1. Go into the \World folder, delete all .w files.
2. Rename all the "w-012351+014861~w.bk" files by deleting the "~w.bk" part and replacing it with ".w", so "w-012351+014861~w.bk" becomes "w-012351+014861.w". Those are backup files created by the route editor, if they are still good you might be able to save some of the scenery.
3. Delete the .tdb file, it doesn't match the scenery info in the .bk files that you just renamed to .w.
4. Open the RE, select your route, click the advanced button, and select rebuild track database.Just out of curiousity, have you tried that new backup batch file that was recently uploaded, routebak.zip ? Might do you a world of good.
