Hello everyone,Can anyone explain to me how to make curves with GMAX or 3D Canvas Pro. We were making curves with TSM, but TSM is not an exactly program if you're about curves. Hopefully someone has a solution!Thank you

RE: MAKING CURVES 2

In TSModeler, you can use the Sweep function for a precision curve. It takes some experimenting to offset the shape from the origin point to sweep and the amount of angle to do so. Otherwise, it is a pain to set this up in a program not designed to produce precision curves.3-D Canvas Pro should have a similar tool available.SRV Ron

RE: MAKING CURVES 2

What's the purpose of dimensions f and g as shown in the x-tracks documentation? Is there really some object created in gmax that conforms to f and g or are they there just for clearance purposes on bridges?Nuther question: Is there any reason why track sections w/ a 3d roadbed could not work in MSTS? Seems like an origin matching pre-existing track sections would allow for clean snaps thereby ensuring compatability. Using different .ace files for track vs roadbed would allow for more swaping around of texture colors.I think there would be a big improvement in the visual effect.

RE: MAKING CURVES 2

'f' & 'g': tunnels!'3d roadbed': no reason at all, just takes more polygons.
Wonder if not 3DTrains has taken this approach with their new tracks?'different .ace files': they ARE different, one for the roadbed and one for the rails. What UKFineScale & 3DTrains has shown is that very nice tracks are possible to model but there's much work involved and routes have to be specially made to use these tracks. No easy way of converting existing routes.

RE: MAKING CURVES 2

Okay, 3 .ace files: rail, roadbed, and ties. There is one existing .ace where I love the ties and hate the stone and another where it's the other way around.

RE: MAKING CURVES 2

Okay, I see what you mean. That would greatly increase the number of polys for track sections and you would no longer be able to change the distance between ties. If you have two textures like you say it would be possible to make a new texture combining the two.
