Aug-03-01, 02:04 PM (EST) "Add-on Scenic Items Not Getting Dark At Night" Items I have been making using 3D Canvas do not get dark at night, as the tech docs say they should, and as the surrounding items supplied with MSTS do. Has anyone created scenic items with Max 3D Studio, and if so, do they perform correctly at night? If so, it may be something missing from the .s file created by 3D Canvas.Any ideas?Ian M.

Aug-03-01, 05:00 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Add-on Scenic Items Not Getting Dark At Night" I think I have resolved the problem, and come up with more questions.
The new version of 3D Canvas is different to the Beta version. The .s files it now produces include the line: named_shader ( Tex )Where the old version had the line: named_shader ( TexDiff )By editting the new .s file and changing Tex to TexDiff, I now have a building that goes dark at night. The question is, what other differences are there between the Tex and TexDiff shaders? My guess is that it may have something to do with why carriage interiors stay 'lit up' at night while the outside of the carriage body is dark.Any Clues?Ian M.

I have retextured my models, selecting an 'Ambient' value of 20 and a 'Specularity' value of 1 and now 3D Canvas creates a .s file with the TexDiff shader and the models get dark at night.I would still like to know what the different shaders actually do though.Ian M.
