I am Biulding an airport and I am making my planes flyable. However I need to know how to make the tracks invisible. I had seen how to do it a long time ago, but now I can't find the Post about it.
In my airport, I have a plane that comes in on a landing aproach at about 330 meters above ground altitude, lands and slows down to the end of the runway, makes a right turn onto the taxiway and follows it all the way to the airport building and then comes to a halt, waiting for passengers.I built the track it runs on in reverse sequences starting at ground height and then up into the air. To get the slope, I tweeked the tracks .w file entries as I went. When all done this, I went bak into the .w files and dropped the height (Y value in Position parm) all by 350 meters to put the track undergound. Then I went Into the tdb and did exactly the same change.I then used shape manager on my plane shape used as an engine, and raised it 350 meters from where it was.BTW: my airport area was already at about 2100 meters altitude. This won't work unless your ground has enough space below it.Martyn T. Griffin griffinmt@mindspring.com http://www.geocities.com/tcmrrc/
As long as you have your options detail level set to 9, there is an easier way (at least I think it's easier). Lay your track for the airplane to run on. By playing with the T key, you can get it up to any slope. Hit T, then raise to max slope, hit T again, sometimes it goes down instead of up, but after a bit of fiddling, you'll get the hang of it. To make the track invisible, select a section, right click, and set the detail level to 10. Now, it will only be visible in the RE.
Martyn, moving the sections in the w-file you could have skipped moving them in the tdb and you would not have needed shape manager to shift the planes altitude. MSTS only looks in the tdb for the path and does not check the w-file to confirm there is a track shape at that location. You could even delete the shapes from the w-file and it would still work as long as you don't rebuild the tdb. Making a copy of the w-file before removing the sections you could switch back to that copy if you need to rebuild tdb and then change it back to the edited version.
