Has any progress been made on the UP, CP Transcontinental Railroad completed in 1869? I thought someone was building the route around the Promontory Point area. Any pics, or info?Anxiously awaiting this one! Future Cumbres & Toltec or Durango & Silverton Engineer. That's good work......kinda ironic to think that the UP gobbled up such a historic railroad only 27 years later....can't wait for that to come out.......it was only abandoned in the late 1960's if memory serves correctlyHauling America one pixel at a time Bill Hemb; train sim repainter http://www.cascadenscale.org/Evergreen/tsdm.htm
it was only abandoned in the late 1960's if memory serves correctlyTracks were taken up in 1942 to support the wartime effort. The line was essentially obsolete with the completion of the Lucin Cutoff across the Great Salt Lake in 1904-06. Kevin Ingoldsby Titusville, FL
I'm just suprised at all that welded rail in your screenshots. It's amazing that kind of technology was used in the building of the Transcontinental railroad. must have been UFOs that tought them early -Chris
