Attached are a couple of screen shots. I can run trains up & down the tracks thatare tagged in white. On those tagged in red trains will only run forward, both from east & west, but I cannot enter the track tagged in pink from either direction. If I try to reverse, the system closes. There are no blue poles evident, neither are there any signals. All points are manual. I have rebuilt the tracks tagged red & pink but the problem is still there. Anyone got a clue about this please? Ken
1. Copy the route folder to a backup location. 2. Open the installed \Train Simulator\Routes\RouteName(whatever the name of your route is) folder. 3. Delete the RouteName.tit and RouteName.tdb files (substituting whatever your route is called for "RouteName"). 4. Open the route editor, select your route with a single click. 5. Click on the Advanced button, check the box for "Rebuild Track Database".If it works correctly (and like everything else in MSTS, it's buggy), the camera view should fly all over the route, and return a message when it stops "all tiles visited". Save and exit, all the way back to desktop, then try it out in the sim.If that don't work, the next thing you could try is relaying the track, making sure there is at least one short track section (like the 7 or 10 meter straight) at the bases of the switches before you start connecting dynamic track. Don't misunderstand me here, I have successfully connected dynamic track directly to the base of some switches before, but it has been known to sometimes cause problems.
This actually sounds more like you have a switch somewhere in the route that does not have track connect to all ends. MSTS does not like switches without at least a short stub of track on each end. The problem is probably not in the area you indicated. It may be farther down the line. The problem occurs when you throw a switch that aligns the path with the open ended switch. If you are still laying track, temporarily attach a short piece of track to any unconnected ends of switches you have already installed.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR cal.rasmussen@verizon.netColumbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 track completed, adding scenery, learning 3D Canvas)
You 2 are among the most helpful guys on the TrainSim planet. This time Cal's suggestion was the one I tried first, and it worked, for which many thanks. Jim's response will be filed away for any future mishaps, and thanks to you too. As a small reward I attach a shot of Kalispell, which looks about 100 years old. Ken
