RE: Chicago L2 Elevated Railway?

Sent Chris an email recently, and it was returned, so obviously he's not online at the moment. Not to panic, I recently had a computer problem that knocked me off the net for two months, probably the same type of thing with him.

HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore.
It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.

I doubt if the same problem that affected Jim did the same to Chris - he now lives in Memphis, he last told me.I emailed him about 2 months ago at both his Hotmail address and Midsouth.rr address. He responded from the Midsouth address about a week later. When I emailed him yesterday though, asking him if I had sent an old copy of the beta v4.0 CTA cars, the Midsouth.RR address, as noted above, was returned. Message read that it was an unknown or illigal alias. What the heck that means, I don't know!As a last resort, I got his phone number (or SUPPOSELY his phone number) through AOL's White Pages search. I tried calling, and an answering machine greeted me. I left a message - hopefully I got the right Chris Cyko......For those interested in the 2400 series cars, I have decided that if I cannot contact Chris within 2 months of the completion of them, I will release them seperately.Take care!

RE: Chicago L2 Elevated Railway?

Yes, I'm sure there is great interest in having the 2400 series cars. I know I would love to have them. Also, it would be fantastic to have a realistic CTA route on which to run them (free or payware). Thanks Kurt for all of your efforts! If Chris is unable to produce the L2, are there others who would like to step up to the plate? My knowledge of route design is very limited, but I could help research (even though I'm 250 miles from Chicago). Let's have a realistic Chicago route!

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's the update on the cars themselves?

rbundy: I know Chris sent out a beta version to a couple fellows a while back (he also sent it to me, but the files wouldn't un-zip, although I know David Klemm was able to un-zip it.), so there's no worry about the whole route being lost. It would be nice if David, or one of the other guys would upload it for us, but he would need Chris' permission, of course. I do guarentee though, that the 2400s will not be lost!Franklin: Here's an update photo....textures are 90%, and we MIGHT attempt to build an interior and insert it with the freightanimation tag.Take care!Kurt

They look truly great and 100% externally detailed as ever. I can't wait to get my hands on them!

RE: Chicago L2 Elevated Railway?

Ryan and others,I've been looking forward to a Chicago "el" route for quite a while! I used to live in Chicago, well in the suburb Forest Park actually, and the idea of running an el train down to the Des Plaines Avenue station gives me the shivers! It would be deja vu! I used to catch the trains there with my mom to go down to Chicago all the time. I moved to California in 1987. Oh, by the way, if anyone is curious and is familiar with the Forest Park area, my old address was 7508 West Madison Avenue. We lived in the second floor of an ancient brick and wooden apartment building (and yes I do mean "ancient"...sucker had to have been built in the 1900s and it used an oil-burning furnace!) We were just a few blocks up from the el station.

Chris-You used to live in Forest Park? I used to live in Stickney. My folks had a little corner store at 44th and Wisconsin. Spent 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at Home School. Got kicked out of Morton High.
Before that, we lived In Cicero, Berwyn and La Grange.
What years did you live there. I was in Stickney from about 1960/61 till 1966. Then I moved to Los Angeles.
HawkEdit: I just checked out your web-site. I reckon I'd been gone a while before you got there.
Nice pictures, BTW! You wouldn't happen to have any more shots of Union Station, would ya'? I'd like to see if I can model it in TSM.The television's going, and the wash still on the line.
I hear the whistle blowin'-the train is right on time.
I know I ought'a catch her-she's taken my last dime.

RE: Chicago L2 Elevated Railway?

Well, thanks for checking out my site! You saw it with the link on my Arrowhead line page? The PE Arrowhead line page is the first website I've ever made, and it's a continuous work in progress. I'm always on the lookout for more maps and pictures to add.Yeah, I was born in Chicago in 1977 and lived in Forest Park until I was 9 years old. We moved to California in the summer of 1987. Wow, let me tell you, that was a major culture shock! It took me a long time to get used to California and for quite a while I was actually bitter about being dragged here. Everything was so much different in Chicago - the climate, the people, the architecture, everything. We moved around quite a bit in California, but I think that in all the places I've lived in, I'm the most comfortable where I am now in San Bernardino. As far as more photos of Union Station, I had actually found that picture online. I'm sure I can find some more pictures of it somewhere though, since we took the Amtrak quite often to visit relatives down in St. Louis. I would have to look though. So you're in Los Angeles now? We'll have to meet up sometime. I'm about an hour or so east of LA.

RE: Chicago L2 Elevated Railway?

Actually, I live in Georgia now.
I got to your site by the link in your profile.
When you said Forest Park, I was thinking Forest View. Stickney borders Forest View.
