Aug-03-01, 00:17 AM (EST) "New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" The REF document doesn't have many comments, and still has items to add.You will find you do not have all SD files for the shapes in the file. I will send them to you as an archive if you let me know which ones are missing.
URL of the latest items.

Aug-03-01, 11:31 AM (EST) 1. "RE: New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" After having "leeched" all the filenames out of the seven files in your zipped file, I come up with a total of 913 files. (I did a cursory examination and didn't find any repeats).I'm wondering how this number relates to the 1,876 items you state in the subject line of this thread? Is this an "additional" file? Are all these new and not having been referenced in the first zipped file?ThanksLawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-03-01, 01:42 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Calculating Combined Objects: 1,876 items" Jim,
Is there an "easy" way to get all the missing .s and .sd files off the CD? There's a ton of content that sure would make for nice detail on routes..
cheers
Harold- if this is a "stupid" question, sorry, I'm just beginning my descent into madness with the Route Editor.. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

CP tracks out back here though, just a small spur that a faded CP unit hauls stuff in and out of the Manitiba Hydro plant a couple times a week. What do you do for CP anyways HAC?Tim Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-03-01, 02:35 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Calculating Combined Objects: 1,876 items" I'm a "Senior Systems Specialist" in the IT (i.e. computer) dept.. Been in IT for CP for 29 years.. Currently I'm working on
a few projects, mostly systems integration and stabilization. My real areas of expertise are storage systems (disk, tape robotics, etc, both large and small scale), but I can pretty much do anything in the shop, except for "pure" code development, although I did write some mainframe apps waaay back.. I'm the guy who gets all the "oddball" and "impossible" stuff that needs sorting out or fixing..
As a plus, I know a lot of folks on the "rail" side of CP, and have gotten involved with the restoration of 2816. I did
some work there with acquiring vintage RR pocket watches for the
crew to use..
With relation to MSTS, I'm working with MS and CP to get
offical CP content into either an add-on or V2.0..so...thats what I do..cheers
hacps.. I'll post a pic of me ugly mug if ya want.. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-04-01, 06:02 AM (EST) 12. "Some files were missing" From looking at internal documents and personal experience, I determined that many "SD" files were not supplied in time for the shipment. So many "SD" files do not exist unless you create them.Apparently the route maps were given a last-minute check to ensure the proper object references were made. You can see signs of this by looking at file names. There are sequences like "1-2-3-7-8-9" and items 4,5,6 are either missing altogether or are there as "S" files and "ACE" textures.Look at the signals list too. Some of the names indicate the same thing. The track DB was handled similar. You'll find things like this in the file: TrackShape ( 220 )
TrackShape ( 221
FileName ( A1t45dYardLftMnl.s )
NumPaths ( 2 )
MainRoute ( 1 )
SectionIdx ( 2 0 0 0 0 189 188 )
SectionIdx ( 1 0 0 0 0 191 )
ManualJunctionShape ( )
)
TrackShape ( 222 )
TrackShape ( 223
FileName ( A1tPnt2_5dLftMnl.s )
NumPaths ( 2 )
MainRoute ( 1 )
SectionIdx ( 2 0 0 0 0 184 177 )
SectionIdx ( 1 0 0 0 0 181 )
ManualJunctionShape ( )
)
TrackShape ( 224 )
TrackShape ( 225
FileName ( A1t2000r5dRndTun.s )
NumPaths ( 1 )
SectionIdx ( 1 0 0 0 0 131 )
TunnelShape ( )
) Items 220, 222 and 224 are place holders for A1t45dRgtMnl.s, A1tPnt2_5dRgtMnl.s and a tunnel piece. All track pieces that you have on your system that don't yet show a THM image have placeholders in the Track file.So to summarize - you DO have the required ACE and "S" files, but don't have all the SD files. The original CD's use the same folder hierarchy as the installation, so you'll need to copy files from each route's Shapes folder anyway. It looks like Marias caused some problems too. The "USA2" route has many useful items that weren't enabled.

"RE: Calculating Combined Objects: 1,876 items" I'm sorry, but for some reason, my brain is in dunce mode today.Let's give this another try.Is this new *.ref file to replace the old one?If so, then we need to also make sure the respective *.sd, *.ace files are gathered and placed in the correct area, right?Again, thanks for your patience.Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-03-01, 02:54 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Calculating Combined Objects: 1,876 items" Sounds Fun Hac When I lived in Ottawa ( Going on 3 years ago ) Before CP pulled out of Walkley Yard and left CN there. I used to drop off applications 1 every 2 months..NOT KIDDING. CN wouldnt hire because they had WAY to many guys to support the tiny yard already and VIA Rail in Ottawa you needed to be French speaking. Oh well eventually I will get tired of sitting at this desk and start hassleing CP / CN / VIA here in Winnipeg. HAC I saw your "MUG" before on the HAC/MALICE/Jon PInder site before. You had your head sticking out of a loco. Was a pretty nice pic.Oh well back to do some work so I can go home sometime today !!Tim Kent

Aug-04-01, 03:26 PM (EST) 16. "RE: New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" To Jim or anyone who can answer these questions,Other than the diesel pump and the coal tower, are the other pickup objects that were found really pickup objects such as the gravel loader, sand, grain, and the rock hopper. You had the rock hopper under the category pickup but is considered static. I tried loading it as a pickup object but would not load. It did load as a static. The same with the sandtower. It will not load as a pickup object but I believe it will load as a static. The gravel loader and grain load up as pickup objects but what do they do. I tried the gravel loader in my route but I don't believe it did anything. One of the last posts by Jim mentioned somthing about one the new pickup objects he found working in his route. It was either the grain or gravel.Edward K. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-04-01, 05:40 PM (EST) 17. "RE: New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" can you explain what files I need to move and from where to get the extended data for shape files? When I use the combined ref file I get asked for various files which I have found elsewhere in the game but there are some missing, do you have a text doc of all the files needed to move to work with this combined ref?

Aug-04-01, 05:59 PM (EST) 18. "RE: New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-01 AT 06:30 PM (EST)To Jim or anyone who can answer this,Here is a followup from my previous post. Evidently when you set up a file shape as a static, levelcr, or pickup, you are telling MTS how it should work with the file. I decided to load up the marias route to see if it would do the same thing and it did. I was unable to install certain objects under track objects and this is including the JP1CarCrossing which the marias route uses. Remember, this is an established route. Is there a certain file that the route editor uses that it is not finding ??. Note, an additional experiment included changing the JP1CarCrossing from a LevelCr to a Static. The gate loaded but without the special track object that causes the gate to go down. Any ideas???Edward K. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-05-01, 09:28 PM (EST) 21. "RE: New Uploaded ZIP file - Combined Objects: 1,876 items" I finally figured out the problem concerning the level crossing issue. Why is it when you put in the level crossing, the cursor does not stay on top of the track? I changed the properties of the track and road but the cursor still disappears under the track where the road is located.Edward K. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
