The Pacific Surfliner route lives! No longer a rumor

I just met one of the guys in charge of the project while riding Amtrak from L.A. to San Deigo, and he actually showed me some bits from the route on his laptop. I wish I could have made screenshots.... it looks so cool. Plus, I think it's almost done. or at least the track is done plus a bunch of scenery. At the risk of sharing more than I think I'm supposed to, he said it'll come with new amtrak equipment, (F59, Surfliner cars, plus Metrolink cars and a bunch of new freight stuff... GP30's???). Also, from what I saw, they did something different in the way they making this that just makes it look so much better than anything I've seen (including Cajon, which I loved!) Apparently, they are doing this direcly with Microsoft and Amtrak... that's why I keep seeing them on the trains (usually in the engine though). He said it'll be ready at the "end of spring", and I think they'll be going public with it sometime next week. I probably just guaranteed that I can't be a beta tester by saying all that I just said, but i'm just too excitied!Kelly <--highball Amtrak 579!

Kelly,Do you know if they are going to be including all of the known track used for local freight in San Diego. One area in mind is the entire 24th street area?Edit:Also, how much of the L.A. area are they going to have in the route?Edward K.

Mainline from Union Station to San Diego, plus north of LA to Burbank Jct, south of San Diego to the SDIY Jct. Will also include the Escondido branch and most servicible industries between LA and SD.

WOW!!! that looks so awsome. i can not belive how perfect it looks especially the surfliner and metrolink cars. man all you guys who were involved with this route did one hell of a job you guys are awsome. cant wait till realease date kool.
