I've really been trying to keep the performance level up on my KC&G route. Thus far, I've been smug in the fact that, for the most part, the lowest my FPS would see (forward views) was upper teens/lower twenties.I have this one section that I'm fond of enjoying, a section with some of Ron's beautiful bridge work. Even with 7 200' "Silverbridge" spans in place, my framerates were in the 21 range with 90% completed scenery. Figured I was home free.Until I turned on water and placed a few tree blocks. Now, on a northbound train, I'm getting 6-7 FPS in the middle of the bridge??? Southbound: Still a solid 21 FPS. ???? Tile containing the bridge scene: 437 objects. To the north of the bridge scene is a lightly populated tile. Tile object count on the northbound approach to the river scene: 476So, leaving 476 going to 432: 7 FPS.Leaving 432 going to 476: 21 FPS.I fail to understand why the huge discrepency in FPS on account of direction.Do any of you have such a "problem child" on your route? Did you figure out what was doing this to you? Does water hit that hard on the FPS?Andre

RE: FPS Weirdness...

jonathanlewis asked again:"And that means!?"Answer:It was a humorous way of saying "I don't know"... because I DON'T know. I don't have a schedule for working on my routes.Plus, it was a gentle reminder that I do this for my personal reward and enjoyment, and not because I feel obligated to make "X" amount of progress.Andre

RE: FPS Weirdness...

From my personal experience "high detail" trees close to track-side cause the largest hits on FPS whenever they're in view (cab, head-out, etc). I find that as soon as I pass them FPS return to "normal" but If I look back at them after I've passed the FPS drop back down.Note that I'm using a large number of the trees available in the file library for groupings closer to the tracks and stock MSTS foliage for background work. It's the one's closest to the tracks that hit me the hardest. I've also seen this on the Conrail/Indy route with trees close to track-side.Dave Mikulec (dmikulec@bellsouth.net)

Dave:All tree items are default in this area. Like I said: Weird.I'm likely going to start removing stuff until I get the FPS I want.Andre
