I have placed a new beta v3.8.5 of Route_Riter.exe on my home page
at http://freepages.hobbies.rootsweb.com/~ageneNew features include:-1. A lot of the code for Activity checking has been re-written. Should now work on machines with less RAM than previous versions.2. Under ENVIRONMENT, there is a new button which allows you to replace all the BlendATexDiff commands in the .env files of your route with the BlendATex command - This has been shown to reduce water flashing problems.3. 'Del Shape from .W' - Will delete an .S file from all the .W files in your route.4. 'Copy Shape to Another Route' - This option allows you to copy any number of shape files from one route to the one you are working on - All associated .SD and .ACE files are also copied across, including Snow/Night/Seasonal textures where appropriate. This option also updates the .ref file of the Target route.Note: You should not use shapes from another person's route unless it is for a route you are only using for your own amusement, or if you get permission from the shape authors, or they have specifically declared that they may be freely disseminated.5. After .W or .S files are uncompressed during the compacting process, they are now re-checked to ensure that ffeditc has actually worked. If any of the .W files are still compressed, they are uncompressed using Martyn Griffin's DecompW program, which takes a while but works correctly. Uncompressed .S files are tried again with ffeditc - This usually works, may be a timing problem with batch files causes ffeditc to miss the odd one. Please advise of any suggestions/problems/bugs etc.Happy New Year to you all

Mike

I think your sister would be a bit disappointed with a 62 yr old disabled pensioner though, don't you? However if she is a 25 yr old blonde with her own private jet, I might be persuaded.

RE: Route_Riter beta v3.8.5 Advanced features

Mike,You state that Route_Riter 3.8.5 will "replace all the BlendATexDiff commands" in the *.env files. I am wondering about the effect of replacing all BlendATexDiff commands since only the two (or three?) associated with water need to be replaced. Bill Burnett

RE: Route_Riter beta v3.8.5 Advanced features

Hi Bill,I have just heard from Jeff on this subject as well. My response was that ever since he posted his ideas on this subject, I have been running my own route with no problems having changed ALL the BlendATexDiff commands. However I will change it today to just alter the water ones, to avoid anyone getting worried. That said, RR actually backs up the .env files when you run the 'Set up .env files' option into a folder Envfiles\OldEnvFiles, so you can always go back if you have undesirable results.Regards,

Mike
