I was adding some more markers in USAPhotomaps, and then updated the marker file with the waypoints program. Now when I go into RE the markers no longer show up, even the ones that were originally there. Anyone know whats up?
In the view menu make sure markers is checked. Look in your route folder for a file named <route>.mkr. Examine the contents of this file with a Unicode-capable editor such as Wordpad or Notepad (WINXP or WIN2K only). There should be a couple of header lines followed by a list of lat/lon numbers for each marker. If none of the above solves the problem, try using a backup copy of <route>.mkr.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR cal.rasmussen@verizon.netColumbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 track completed. If you used the WayPoint program to create the marker file, it does NOT add to existing .mkr files, it replaces them, beleiving that the original markers are still in the photomap source. Also, as just pointed out to me by another email, the program does not apply a default extension of .mkr on the output fule. What you type is what you get. So your 'new' file may be there but without the .mkrMartyn T. Griffin griffinmt@mindspring.com
no of your suggestions worked. I am wondering if for some reason the backup files .bk might have something to do about it. RE had locked up when I was working on it, and every since then the markers haven't been showing up, plus there have been a couple of files with the extension .bk.
The .bk files are simply backups that the RE creates when you do a save. I would suggest backing up your entire route folder to another location and then do a track database rebuild.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR cal.rasmussen@verizon.netColumbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 track completed. Among all the other things mentioned, check the MKR file for "typos".Not that USAPhotoMap screws up, but if you used place names with spaces or characters like ? the file won't work. RE will ignore the entire file for one character it doesn't like. I tend to use "meaningful" names in my markers like "Pittsburg Depot". It will only work if typed PittsburgDepot or Pittsburg_Depot. If you leave the space in the marker file won't work, unless it's typed as "Pittsburg Depot".There is also a character limit, so I end up typing PttsbrgDpt leaving all the vowels out.You can tell if the marker file is the issue just by clicking on the marker file option in the overhead menu (I forget what the section is called). Is the check mark doesn't take, the MKR file needs some work.
